What a gem of a dive shop. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone who asked. I had only very minor feedback which I included at the bottom of this review.

    - These guys are well organized and the shop is clean.
    - Their rental gear is well maintained, and divers with their own gear can expect that their gear will be safe and respected.
    - The RIB boat they run is built for diving, and hauls ass with 200 HP on the back.
    - The family that runs the shop are all knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely competent.
    - No dogmatism here either. Lots of different divers, long hose, traditional, doubles, singles, etc. and everyone got along for a great set of dives.

-The dive sites themselves are fantastic and varied. As someone who's dove all over, this is definitely one of the best "cool water" coastal diving ares you can explore.

My only feedback is minor and easily corrected:

    - Their list of dive sites online, while numerous (green map), is very, very low resolution, lacking detail, and could benefit from descriptions (current, hazards, sights, etc.), coordinates, and at least a bottom sketch so divers can get familiar before the dives, fill in details in their log books and explore the area on their own or request/recommend specific dives.

    - Their website could use a bit of updating. It doesn't work super great on mobile, and a lot of information could stand to be consolidated so it's easier to track down what you're looking for.

    - Their contact system needs an update. If you're an international diver, you may find it a bit challenging to coordinate a booking if the shop is especially busy. Would be nice to take automated bookings or something like that, and have it take your payment online ahead of time, etc.

    A+++

Even if the weather was a bit challenging I had a fantastic dive and this is thanks to the scubadive west crew. Very professional but also friendly and fun. Even if it was Very windy and raining on the surface we had a great visibility underwater. Full of life and colours. The boat trip was also short which is always a plus. I will definitely go back for a more dives. Thank you guys.

As a BSAC group of 11 experienced divers, we had 5 days of fantastic boat diving with Scubadive West. We enjoyed perfect diving weather during our stay, warm sun & flat seas.

The facilities at the dive centre are first rate, shop, changing rooms, kitchen/canteen, air station with Nitrox available.

The dive boat, Marlin is a large well equipped rib skippered by Breffni. Marlin has plenty of room for 12 divers and a decent ladder. Loading is via slip, just in front of the dive centre.

Although the dive centre, boat and facilities are all top notch, the real attraction is the diving, with 10M visibility and lots of marine life. The highlight for me was our day on Inisturk, where we watched Puffins during our surface interval and explored the cracks and gullies underwater.

While on the boat, Breffni looked after us very well, helping with kitting up, detailed dive briefings and hot drinks. Nothing was too much trouble.

I would highly recommend diving with Scubadive West.

Excellent overall, you'd think & expect that a Dive Centre this far out might be slow, run down and ill equipped. It simply put, was the complete opposite of my expectations, modern facilities, changing rooms, hot showers, state of the art equipment, tea & coffee + canteen. Fresh water at breakdown area for cleaning your kit, modern boats. Welcoming & accommodating throughout my visit here, wouldn't hesitate for a second in recommending Scuba Dive West. Great choice of dive sites suiting all skill levels in Ireland's only Fjord. I dived Doonie beacon on my visit, into my top 10 list of dive sites worldwide! Thanks Breffni

My husband and I were in Ireland for our honeymoon and had no intentions of diving while we were there, and therefore had no gear with us either. We decided one evening that we would love to dive at Killary Harbour, so I emailed the dive shop, within hours, we had dives scheduled for the next afternoon! Breffnie and his brother were absolutely amazing to us! They were extremely accommodating with providing us gear and guiding us through our first cold water dive. I cannot wait to go back to dive with them again and see the rest of the dive sites! One of the greatest experiences I've had at a dive shop!
