Such a lovely place, the owner was sooo kind! He take the time to really show us the area on the map. The place is clean and really welcoming, it felt like a sleepover at a friend's Grand-parent's place :)

Very fiew times I experienced such a welcoming and warm atmosphere. The couple who is running this hostel wants to make you feeling comfortable in their hostel as well as in the neighbourhood.
The place is cosy and has a spectacular view off the shore.

Best view of the sea and mountains from lounge and front dorm.
    - The hostel has two big dorms with bunk beds. One at the front with the view and one at the back with two bathrooms.
    - self catering kitchen is big and well equipped. I brought my own cafetiere but they have everything else (kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge, etc)
    - there's another toilet in the corridor
    - can be a bit crammed if full but we went in winter and had a whole dorm for the two of us
    - there's heating in the dorms but the lounge is heated by a little fire stove that takes ages to light. The owner comes in the morning usually to take care of that but it won't be warm if you're making breakfast at 8am.
    - the service is good for the little you pay really. Bedding is charged separately which is good if you want to save 2 pounds and bring your own. Otherwise is still cheap with the extra charge!

Staying with Rodney and Margaret is a little like staying with friends your relatives have referred you to. You wake up to the sounds of waves coming in and when you raise your head, you can see the Donegal mountains and a wonderful part of the ocean. The hostel is very homey, always clean and both physically and emotionally warm. You can read up on anything you can possibly do around Malin Head - and find hundreds of pictures and articles and prospects! - and Rodney has a story for you for every little bit of the area. The kitchen and sitting room are beautiful and even on a bad weather day, the view invites you to just sit in front of the big windows and let your thoughts wander. Even if you go there without a rental, you'll find many things to do, such as just walking along the completely deserted beaches to the left of the hostel - as long as you're good on foot! If you're in the area, please consider staying here, you will remember it in the best ways possible!

What a location for an hostel!!! It was comfy, warm and welcoming. Lots of info and the turf burning range made a cosy atmosphere. From an environmental point of view the use of chemical cleaners like Mr Muscle make the bathrooms smell like a public toilet. They are very clean, maybe too clean? Today we have eco friendly products and in this clean and green environment I gently suggest this lovely youth hostel uses them. Highly recommend this place for a few days!
