The shipwreck is a popular tourist attraction, if you go visit be sure to find out the storey about how the ship was wrecked and the rescue of the crew.
The small road from the village to the wreck offers amazing views of the Islands scenery and the lake.
Well worth the visiting if you're on the island.

Plassey shipwreck grounded on Innis Oir Aran Islands in 1960 during a storm..a haven for nesting birds during spring/summer.

BEWARE - Kind of sketchy and unsafe but I loved it! Was able to explore two levels. Was an adventure getting up to the second level and walking around up there. Again, I recommend extreme caution. Rust all over the place could fall and if you choose to go upstairs there's a possibility of falling through the floor.

It's a long way out to the wreckage, I suggest you take one of the islands transports available. It's in good shape considering it's been sitting in the elements all this time. You can walk right up to it, but wouldn't suggest entering, great photo opportunity.

Most fun thing to do on the island. You're able to climb up to all 3 levels of the ship (it's rusty and lots of holes in the floor so watch where you step). Had a blast climbing all over the ship.

A timeless example of how rough the seas are off the Aran islands. The rusted hulk of this vessel adds to the otherworldly quality of the island. From mustard the place if you like to shoot photographs

Easy walk. If tide is out, best approached by shoreline rocks. In 1960 the freighter Plassey was washed ashore at night. The Islanders rescued those on board using a line from the shore and pulling each one ashore with a life buoy around thuer waste. The islanders also rescued products that some had never seen: biscuits, cookies, toilets.
