  Here's a little explainer of Saturday nights Arctic Challenge Fundraiser Sept 8 in the words of one of the team herself, Kiera!

  I am embarking on an expedition to the Arctic Circle together with my friend Carol O Reilly, also from Quin, Co Clare, in aid of DEBRA Ireland.

  DEBRA Ireland was set up in 1988 by families living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) who had no support and nowhere to turn. DEBRA Ireland also provides funding for world-class research into treatments and cu...res for those living with the condition.

  EB is a severe rare genetic skin blistering where the skin is as fragile as the wings of a butterfly. With your help, I would like to make a difference to their lives. Donations will go towards 1) funding world-class research for treatment and cures;; 2) fighting for EB patients to ensure that they get the best level of patient support and medical care in the two Irish EB centres in Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and St James’s Hospital 3) continuing to support the families and care-givers of people with EB.

  Our mission is…to survive in a harsh, unknown environment like no other accompanied by 14 fellow adventurers. Our goal is to go totally off the grid, learn how to survive in -27 degrees without running water or electricity, camp out in and learn about this unique landscape. The environment we are heading to is…SNOW and ICE! 150km north of the Arctic Circlewith never ending horizons of forests and lakes and winters of eerie frozen landscapes.

  DEBRA Ireland's mission is to give hope to suffers of EB, hope of a life free of pain and hope of a life where dreams come true. Every donation you give, will be one step closer to this mission being realised.
