I think it was the most memorable place in Dublin. The guide (Dave) was amazing. He made me feel like I was just there, during these dark days of Irish history.

REALLY good guided tour! Get a sense of Irish culture and formative events in Irish history. Making a reservation before arriving is required and is easily done through their website.

Kilmainham Gaol is a great place to visit. Loved the tour full of great stories and the museum is also really interesting. Definitely would recommend it. The only downside is that there isn't any other languages support available. There wasn't any flyers left either.

The guide was really nice and the tour informative. However, we were to many to fully enjoy the small corridors of the jail. Therefore it was difficult to hear the guide speaking and to take photos without a tons of heads in the way. The price is definitely affordable, but you have to print the tickets in advance and I found it pretty weird and unnecessary.

Incredibly engaging guide (Dave?) brought to life the events and context of Irish independence in general and as specifically related to the gaol. If having to choose one I would recommend a visit here over other modern Irish history exhibitions/tours/sites in Dublin.

Very interesting. There are 2 types of tour: 30 min and 1h. Try to book online before going. It's cheaper and you can garantee to schedule the tour in a convenient time, specially if you want the 1h tour.
I was there on a Saturday morning without prebooking and the wait was short for the 30 min tour, time enough to check out the museum

The 30 min shows the bottom part of the 'new' prison wing and a part of the old block, plus some interesting stories.

Our tour guide was very enthusiastic which kept me interested throughout, learn a lot about the history of the prison, and made references to specific events in Irish history but without going off topic so even people like me that aren't that educated with history stayed interested, would definitely recommend! The only one thing I would change is there was restricted access to some areas of the prison, I guess these were off guards due to safety. If that is the case I think it would have been cool to have full 360° videos of the restricted areas of the prison available to view in the museum at the end of the guided tour.

The tour here was the most informational tour I've been on in Dublin. it explained so much about the history of the country and the independence. The tour guide was fantastic and kept me quite interested the entire time. I highly recommend.

If you enjoy history, and not just the sunny bits, this is the place for you. A historic prison with a dark past. Said to be very haunted. The guides are all very helpful and knowledgeable. Pay attention to the people that were imprisoned here and their stories. A key role played in modern Irish history.

It is not just the imposing building but also the tragic stories that associate with it. The guide was very aware of the Irish history and he transmitted the atmosphere of this dark era very accurately. I wish such sights would not exist, but as it is sadly a vivid part of history I think it is worth visiting it. We had to wait for an hour for the tour (in February), so I guess booking in advance is necessary. The duration of the tour is about 30 minutes. The guide was very polite and willing to answer questions after the tour ended. There is also a museum inside the Kilmainham Gaol with really interesting exhibits and information about the prison's history.
