Most efficient way to fly in/out of Ireland West.
Folks complaining about €10 fee. Well this is an open transparent charge, you are paying up to twice that in hidden charges at other airports.

Great little airport. Limited but well run facilities that cater well for the numbers of people passing through the airport. respect should be given to a small "bust"/statue of Monsignor Horan in the Airport Concourse and a larger statue on the Airport Approach Road. Monsignor Horan was the driving force behind bring this Airport to the West of Ireland. a great man. A small consideration for travellers to Ireland is transport from the airport to local villages, towns etc. It may be worth ringing your hotel or guest house to see if they provide competitively priced and well timed connections for your arrival departure, as transport links can be expensive and timing not always convenient with the traveller.

Great airport.
No delays and well run.
Reading other reviews complaining about paying 10 euro on entering the airport, it's a development fee and as far as I can see it is used to constantly improve and update the airport which is in my opinion well worth it.response / report this review -

BEWARE !!
Could not believe that we were charged 10 euros each on departing Knock
airport.
No signs were there to inform us on arrival and no advance warning from Ryan Air or when booking. They call it a 'Development Fee'
I would definitely recommend using a different airport in Ireland out of principal. I would give NO STARS on this review if I could !response / report this review -

Let's start with the main bad points: Overcooked, bad food; Expensive tiny shopping area; Expensive car parking and as a lot of other reviewers have pointed out the compulsory €10 development fee!!
Not even sure if travellers exiting for flights should be legally charged for this ransom..?
The good points going for this airport include: It does connect rural West of Ireland with the outside world and it has seen a fair expansion over the years.
The airport is away from dense residential areas and the few locals dotted amongst the hills, don't suffer problems associated with air traffic, such as noise pollution.
On leaving the airport there is a decent main road for your onward journey, though why it is not a dual carriageway is anyone's guess.

Well i am glad they have this airport, as i would not be able to visit my dear papa who lives close by. The airport itself is tiny, looks like a country dwarf when compared to its giant city Dublin competitor. The airport charges a 10 euro fee to leave, which is a little annoying, I can get alot of pies for 10 euros, i would rather have the money for some chunky steak pies at my local pie store in Wigan that sells great delicious pies all year round.

Never reviewed an airport before, but then I've never had to pay a "development fee" before - €10 per person before going through to security. I understand the airport needs the money to sustain itself but this is a very underhanded way to get it and it makes flights appear cheaper than they actually are. This fee should be included in the taxes and charges component of the ticket price, which would be more honest. As it stands this left a very bad taste in my mouth and I won't be flying through the airport again. The airport itself is okay - feels somewhere between a shopping centre food court and a large shed. Toilets a bit dirty. Small shopping area - I didn't buy anything there on account of having used the last of my cash to pay the development fee!
