Hi Everyone and welcome to Gail’s Rails. I’m a 'wear my heart on my sleeve' kind of girl so let me tell you a little bit about me and my style. In secondary school I never knew what I wanted to do. I was always good with my hands but never academic. I was let's say, a visual learner! My favourite class was home economics. My grandmother thought me how to Knit and sew and in 6th year, I designed and helped make my own debs dress! So that was it! I wanted to do fashion design but getting pregnant at 21 put a lot of my plans on halt. Followed by a marriage at 23, a divorce at 25, a new relationship and another baba at 28, and falling ill myself for 2 long years, my career just seemed like a distant dream. I adore my kids and they always come first but there was something missing in me. I knew I was more than just a wife and mammy of 2. So when my daughter was 2 years of age I went back to college and completed my diploma in dressmaking. So along with working with my now husband in our corporate clothing business, I started Crafty Couture, where I did clothing alterations, logo embroidery and made fabric handcrafted gifts. I adore anything fabric! This was all going great but I was still not 100% content and I knew something was missing. I knew I didn't just have a passion for fashion but a WANT for it. I studied different designers that interested me and envied anyone involved in the fashion industry! So I returned to college again and got my Diploma as a Personal Stylist. I had finally found a job I was 100% happy with. But business was slow and my husband became very ill early this year and was out of work for 4 month. So i had to put my thinking cap on and quick! I have all this experience but needed to bring in business! I felt, if someone wanted to hire me as a Personal Stylist, they had to know me and my style, So it was a no brainer!!! In July I decided to start my own fashion blog and share all my experience and knowledge. I felt being a Dressmaker and Personal Stylist, a blog was an essential part of my business. Little did I know what a massive success it would be and it has snowballed into something I am very very proud of and It brought new business my way! I always had a unique style which was always classy! I believe there are no rules in fashion but knowing your own body shape is very important. And accepting it is even more important. Once you accept it you become a happier person. And that's all that matters. I love my now 17 year old son to bits but getting pregnant at 21 was tough, I didn't even know how to mind myself let alone a new born baby and my confidence & femininity fell to the floor! But looking back now, I'm glad life happened the way it did. As the saying goes.....What's for you won't pass you! And the timing is so right now for my career and well.....me! Last year I furthered my education and completed my Advance Diploma in Image Consulting and colour/style analysis. I have more years of experience under my belt now and in my blog I will be sharing all my Gail Rails tips and advice with you to help you become an even bigger confident, more beautiful woman you already are.
