As a child life at home was harsh & often brutal,so I spent many, many wonderful hours(from matinée to lights up,every single weekend, an everyday on school holidays)cocooned in darkness gaping agog at the amazing world's & Their inhabitants until I could recite everything, spoken or sang verbatim.Yes that old converted theatre, with sticky carpets and musty seats,to grown up's known as "The flea Pit", was in fact called The Classic Cinema.
But that was in early 1970's Merseyside where I was born & reared, now over 45yrs later living in Listowel. The local cinema is also 'The Classic',& while it's far from being a 'flea Pit' it does retain a proper picture house ambience where the main focus is on the great high quality Screen & Sound systems, less on the nachos and other nibbles, bells an whistles that all too many Omni,Multi & OtherPlexes go in for these days.I like other film fans, love cinemas that offer the exclusive experience of you alone in the dark visiting different world's from another time. The people of Listowel are blessed to have such a wonderful cinema, which is indeed A Classic in both name & nature . -Mark Ollerhead,

This is not a cinema anymore, it is a venue for parties where I have attended birthday and christening parties for my grandchildren. There was plenty to keep the children entertained and lots of tea and coffee to keep the adults happy!

I love coming to this old cinema. It is very reasonably priced, I don't know any other cinema where you could get your tickets, popcorn, drinks and a bag of sweets for under €20

Small cinema that smells very damp. It's ok if you don't want to go to Tralee

It has a great range of films, but there should be a bigger range of snacks and showing times
