The river Shannon and surrounding countryside and the people of the area are lovely, but the boat hire company Carrick Craft totally spoilt our holiday. The boat we were given stank of cigars, was in poor condition with defective refrigerator and heating. Having paid over 3000 euros for the hire we were obviously very disappointed. After complaining we were given a 48 euro subsidy on our fuel bill and an offer of 10% discount on a future holiday! We will return but will not use this firm ever again..
Staff very helpful and boat was very well presented. Had a lovely holiday on board and visited Shannon bridge, Athlone Wineport Lodge Lough Ree Yacht Club and Clonmacnoiseall great.
Great trip. Decent boats.
Myself and my husband spent 5 nights on Lough Erne with Carrickcraft. I had never been on this type of holiday but I have to say that it's definitely one of my favourite things to do now. Seeing the countryside from the water, the wildlife and historic monuments was great. Loved every minute. It's a break from the norm, so relaxing. Come and go at your own pace. The boat was compact but had every necessity (except a hairdryer) but I did know about that before I went. The staff are friendly and professional, they make sure that you are capable of mooring etc before they hand over the boat. (They bring you out on the lake for training) During the week we needed their assistance when a latch on the door broke (we were locked out) we phoned and were immediately told help was on the way. We were in Enniskillen at the time not too far from Bellanaleck (where we had collected the cruiser from) Charlie arrived in no time at all and fixed the problem in a matter of minutes. We will definitely be returning to Carrickcraft .
We rented a house boat for one week at Carrickcraft. The boat was in a good state and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Shane O'Connor would love this place!
