A beautiful maintained castle demonstrating various updates through its history.
A very good diorama and explanation of the siege of the castle. There are lots of rooms and passageways to explore and ponder.
Lots of potential for picnic days and shows on the green lawn. Hopefully the castle becomes more interactive.

A lot of the walls and steps are closed off to public access. Denying people the chance to look over the walls. Not very much artefacts to see inside.

I visited the castle yesterday it's great to get the insight of the history and culture within your local town. The views of the town and surrounding area from the tower of the castle are fabulous.

Cahir Castle is one of the largest castles in Ireland, is sited on an island in the river Suir. It was built from 1142 by Conor O'Brien, Prince of Thomond. The castle is well preserved and has guided tours and audiovisual shows in multiple languages.
In 1981 it was used as a location for a battle scene in the film Excalibur and more recently as a location for television series The Tudors.

The castle of butler family. I visited so many castles in Ireland. This one has the similar architecture as others. The uniqueness of the castle is the following. It has a great history of surviving the English attack. You can still see two canon balls on castle walls as a souvenir. One of the building has a miniature replica model to show how the English capture the castle with timelines. Overall it's worth to visit once. I would suggest to visit the Swiss cottage as well which is 2km away from the castle. It's the summer cottage of buttler family.

This is one of the best Norman castles to visit and the tours are not expensive. There is a lovely park adjoining it before you walk to the Swiss Cottage.I recommend a visit.

As one of Ireland's largest and most in-tact castles, this is a great place to visit and take a trip back in history. We took the tour included in the price of admission and I would highly recommend it. Our guide was very knowledgeable and I learned quite a bit about the castle's history, as well as it's owners and life inside it's walls.

We had a great explore the model was a great hit with the children and plenty to read for the adults. Staff were really friendly and engaging. Well worth a visit.

Informational video at a cool Castle. We really liked the VERY NARROW stairs down underground and back up to the high tower overlooking the fishery. Castle has a moat. We also enjoyed walking the free grounds that have several neat wood sculptures like the sword in the Stone and giant shoes and trees with chairs carved in them. Parking is on site in a lot, but there is a fee.

A fascinating castle steeped in history. The video you are free to watch is very interesting and gives you all the information you need. The views from the top of the castle are well worth the effort. All this for only €5 absolute bargain.

Fantastic place for a visit! A truly beautiful castle which scenic views from all the windows. You are freely allowed to roam around the place but they also offer guided tours. They have a stunning miniature setup in one of the galleries. The grounds outside are beyond beautiful with an abundance of wildlife. Be warned you must bring something to offer to the ducks and geese, it is encouraged to feed them, as written on a sign.
We spend a lovely time outside the castle in the grounds which have well kept land and paths. A bridge that allows you to cross the moat into the park. There is a wild flower area and another that encourages wildlife in safe areas. Truly a great place to visit!

Nice big open space, I've been on a few tours around the castle. Make sure you visit the gardens and there is a walk to the Swiss cottage (about 20 min) which is worth while.
