Steeped in history. Beautiful grounds and perfect acoustics. 801 years in constant use as a Catholic Church having survived the famine and all the wars when Churches were burned all over the country

Beautiful simple Abbey, enjoyed our time here. Lovely walk around the Abbey. Steeped in history. Very spiritual experience. Lovely adoration chapel to spend quiet reflection time with the Lord. Was a wedding there , so beautiful a setting. No down side

Steeped in history that appeals to ones Celtic roots as well as ones Catholic Heritage, the abbey remains a fully functional church, offering daily and weekend masses, feast celebrations, and a Passion Play on the grounds during Holy Week.

The history on offer here is fantastic .. The Abbey has been on the go for nearly 800 years , (1216) , even during the bad times of Cromwell & Co .. Not far from Castlebar (8miles ) or Westport (10 miles ) .. Well worth a visit if you're in the west ..
