This is the best place I can recommend to buy local products in Bali. All the other traditional markets and shops are selling same items at higher prices. If you have good ability of bargaining you can buy at reasonable price. There are over 200 shops which selling different local products, most of them are souvenirs. Market will open around 10am and all shops will be close by 6.30.
It's a tourist trap if you not bargain. I saw better prices and better quality in the local supermarket. So, if you think about buying something nothing will be a good deal. Just give an offer on a 1/2 or 1/4 of the original proce what they will say. If he is not willing to give you just walk away (probably they will change his mind when you leave) 200 RP to 50RP. Also you can buy the same stuff from the other vendors
Very fun place to walk around and but some souvenirs to take back. You can typically get anything for about a quarter of the price that is quoted. Also negotiate. Be firm with your offer and start to walk away. They almost always come down to your “final price.” If they don’t, go to the next 50 stalls that sell the same thing.
"Ubud price" I love this market but too pricey than others art market.always busy, you need good level skills to bargain
There are basically three or four types of shops just repeated over and over. The stuff is all 100% touristy. If you're looking for cheap knick knacks this place works fine.
If, however, you're looking for something local and interesting (and obviously more pricey) there are a myriad of local shops within walking distance.
For a rather standard SEA market, this one holds it's own. Nothing too special, but a good experience and prices seem decent at least in low season April.
While you stay in Ubud, one day you wake up early and you should see this. The art market is well known, but the way they live will be a good memory for you.
A traditional tourist focused market. Great for souvenirs and a wander around. Negotiation is the way it's done
It seems that you will find best prices on slow days, and from vendors that are harder to get to (like upstairs or in hard to see corners of the market).
Haggling- Start at about 20% of the price they quote you, and you got an alright deal if you land between 30-40% of the original price. You got a killer deal if you achieved 25% of original!
After you walk through you will realize most vendors all have the same goods, so if one stall doesn't give you the price you want, go down the market and try for the same goods at a new stall.
It's a big market and super fun to people watch! Go, have fun, and support the locals!
The place is full of hand crafts. From 3.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m. it is a food market. After 9 o'clock it becomes smarts market. Some areas of the market are still under developed. So if you are going after a rain be ready to jump over the muddy streets. Prices are overrated. However, you can bargain down the prices. When the sellers try so hard to convince the buyers they become very annoying. Even though there are negative points, it is still a good experience to pay a visit there.
You've to bargain a bit to get the right price. Good designs and variety of jewellery. We thought the jewellery wasn't made of silver or that it's not of good quality. But.. We were wrong.
Made2 - it's the name of a girl in the market who owns a small stall. She was very sweet and courteous.
Great place to buy souvenirs. You can buy really cheap stuff and great artworks. Always, always bargain. You can try and bargain for a quarter of the price they offer. Also, there are lovely Hindu shrines behind the market, and they're beautiful. Do bear in mind that most of these shrines are in private properties.
I good place if you're looking for a cheap gift or some inexpensive clothing. It's a confusing and twisty market with lots and lots of stores, bit most sell very similar items so you don't need to delve too deep to find things. You need to haggle.
It is a great experience! So many cute and amazing things to buy and look at. A must visit
Great market great prices. Don't pay full price. They expect to negotiate and always try for top dollar on everything. If the start at say $25 AUD OR 250000 Rupiah you can get for $10 AUD or 100000 Rupiah. Pay only 1/3 to 1/2 they are lovely people and it is a great market.
Great place for diversity of goods and souvenirs in a busy pituresque atmosphere. Check the quality of clothes, sometimes what is hanging for show is not the same that comes brand new in a pack. Better prices towards the end of the day when sellers are more eager to make business before closing time. Bigger stalls tend to bargain less than individual vendors. A same item might be sold for 3 times less the price at different shops so ask around before going for it!
Very big market full of options for Balinese souvenirs. Also, the city of ubud offers you the chance of great walks among its streets. Grab a cup of coffee and explore
Crowded and busy place. You need to bargain very well in order to get good prices. Locals are friendly but will pursue you to buy from their goods.
It's THE downtown lol. The traditional market has all kinds of merchandise and they expect you to bargain with them so don't pay the full price. Adjacent to this area is another market place filled with restaurants, shops (small and large), bars, live bars, desert places, etc.
You can find comfort food here. If you're on a budget, you might wanna shop at Water Temple. After you exit the temple, there are some shops but I didn't see restaurants.
Been here many times past 4 years and found its a great place to buy souvenirs. You should be too good to bargain here though. Just in case you missed to pick up anything in Ubud, don't worry you can always go to Legion street and get the same things at same or cheaper cost.
Stalls and stalls of the same thing. best thing about that is you get great haggling power. Lots of first time hagglers will pay way too much. The first price stall holders will offer you often depends on how you're dressed ( how rich you look). be prepared it's hot and stuffy.
A very loud and crowded place. Plenty of shops offering pretty much exact same things therefore it begs a question whether it's authentic or rather mass produceIf you want a cheap souvenir like a Bintant t-shirt (and know how to bargain) this is the place to come get it. If you want to purchase something unique, stay away from this place.
Interesting and eclectic mix of stores. It's as safe as any other market in Bali but keep your hands in your pockets as some folks will try and relieve you of your wallet. Some of the store owners can drive a hard bargain. Watch out for the locals who use it as a thoroughfare for their scooters.
The right place for buying souvenir if you have high bargain skill. Bargain more than 50% is must and do not worry, the seller will not become angry to you. Recommended go to second floor since the shop not get much customer and they will thread you very nice if you go to their store.
Good place to buy excellent wood work native to Bali. But you must know how to handle haggling and bargain. Be ready to offer 20-30% of quoted cost and also check several other stores before you choose to buy a certain product. It will give you and idea of what is a good price, never buy merchandise from the first store that offers it, look around before you close.
Best place for tourists to shop around in Ubud. Hundreds of small / big stalls & shops. Also visit the nearby street market at Jalan Karna which runs parallel to Monkey Forest road. You get stuff made up of cane, wood, fridge magnets, souvenirs, t-shirts, bags and paintings. Bargain hard, you should not pay more than 30-35% of the price quoted by shop keepers. Wide Variety, similar items being sold at different prices.
If you're visiting Ubud I'd recommend taking a look here. A densely crowded place with a laid back touch. Lots of shops offer the same articles so you don't need to spend much time if you don't want to.
It's a great market that was open everyday whilst i was there. You can pick up a lot of souvenir s, home and crafts and curios. The stuff is pretty nice too. Just make sure you bargain!!
Nice market to buy souvenirs. Loved their collection of ear rings. Bargaining is a must
This used to be a beautiful little market where you could find small and unique things. Since Bali got even more popular it unfortunately transformed into a fairly huge place of identical market stalls, offering mainly the same goods and touting those loudly. A normal development as more people come to see this beautiful place and if it brings some prosperity to Ubud and it's people that's great. I'd rather walk down Jalan Monkey Forest though visiting the little and less cramped boutiques along the road. That all being said though, everybody here was friendly, just trying to win over the buyers' attention, so naturally it just didn't have that old charm anymore.
A good open market. You can get most souvenirs and clothes you are looking for here. Can stay and look around or ask and get exactly what you need. You can negotiate prices as well. They are friendly and I would recommend not haggling too much.
It's a big traditional market selling many kind of things, Balinese traditional handy craft, textiles and clothes. We can get almost everything as souvenir in this place. Cheap price, bargain is a must.
Great place for shopping if you are into traditional Balinese art work or just want to walk around in the heat and enjoy some colourful art and crafts.
The place was a bit dim eventhough I arrived around 11am, stuffs were overprice - you shall be very good in bargain to get the cheaper one. I prefer to shop in Krisna-like shops where everything has reasonable tagprice.
Lot's of junk but also some amazing craftsmanship if you can find it. I wish the market had more unique items in it. A lot of things I saw in Cambodia and Thailand were also being sold in the markets here.
A really nice market. It is very cramped there but they have EVERYTHING! And it's very easy to negotiate the prices.
A good place for spending time. You can find many cute and unique souvenirs but you need to have bargain skills. The market placed at the center of Ubud.
Having the name of "Traditional Art Market" is a little misleading. This is just a place to go and get souvenirs for loved ones from your travels. However, even after haggling they were 2 or 3 times more expensive than some of the other places around Ubud and they are a little more aggressive than what I experienced before. However, this is still a nice place to spend a couple of hours if you are wanting to buy souvenirs and enjoy haggling.
Great place to conclude great deals, my advise to bargain with them, start with a 1/5 of the price, you can get what you want for 1/3 of their basic price !
Really nice market place. It's perfect to buy gifts or souvenirs. Worth a visit.
You can see variety thing in here . Depend on time you can get different expirence. That's ur mission in ubud🙊
Good place to bargain for s tuff. Be smart when you bargain. walk if they refuse. Let them offer you a lower price. If they don't make your price and see if they will agree. If not walk. Many stores sells same stuff.
Cool temple, however it is hard to count it as a stand out because there are literally temples everywhere of the same type. The kecak fire dance was pretty cool and reasonably priced, however I wish they would enforce no flash photography. Rude tourists kind of ruined the performance. he will let you bring beer, drinks or snacks in for the show since it is not technically in the temple but rather in the front court yard. This is not as genuine but nice because it also means you can wear whatever you want.
From 5:00 am until 8:00 am, the local fresh market operates here. It is here that you will find the freshest, most local and inexpensive fruits, vegetables, and eggs in town. Not many tourist go to the market but most sellers speak enough English to be able to transact with the tourist. You must negotiate prices. Also, the earlier you arrive, the better the selection. After 9:00 am, the market shifts to souvenir and clothing items for tourist.
Good place to buy local craft and souvenir. But you gotta be a good negotiator. It is common for you to buy something at least with 50% discount. I got a musical craft at IDR 25,000 (initially offered at IDR 80,000)
Too annoying sellers, sometimes even rude
The central Ubud town. Plenty of restaurants and shopping in the area.
Nightlife is limited compared to Kuta with less bars and clubs but this is good for family holidays.
Great choices, but prices are not best and it's not that easy to bargain
The items are cute but most of the same. Most sellers aren't buying no and will grab your arm. Please walk away because they will think thats the right way of selling, which is not.
Good play to have fun on bargaining the price. But the quality of good would not be good.
And u might find the same thing 60% off in carrifour
