I went to Tanah Lot when I was in high school, to be precise when I was in 11th grade. I really like this place because all the fatigue during the trip paid off with a very beautiful view. Tanah Lot is one of the tourist destinations that must be visited by tourists on vacation to Bali. Tanah Lot has its own uniqueness, that Tanah Lot has a temple that stands on a rock. I am very curious about the temple . But, before that I asked first whether I could visit the temple or not. At that time I was not allowed because there would be a religious ceremony by the local people.

Finally, because it was not allowed, I finally went to the cave where it is said that there is a black and white snake which is commonly called the holy snake. Apart from that I tried one of the springs which was quite interesting. It is said to be interesting because the water is not salty but tasteless. There are lots of shopping places. At that time I bought a pair of sandals which were quite expensive, but I still bought them because I really needed them.

It's so nostalgic for me to come here. Last time I came here is 10 years ago. It feels different because now it's so less crowded. The scenery is beautiful as I remember. I wish I could see the sunset next time when I visit this place again.

A very interesting place. Though it is marketed as a temple, there is no God that you will end up seeing. The walk to the feet of the temple through the water is very exciting. There are shacks on the hill overseeing the old temple which gives a very good view of the sea and the temple. The rhythmic sound of the water splashing the stones and beach gives you a serene feel. Lot of shopping huts with sellers offering products at hefty rates leaving a lot to bargain. A must go place when you visit Bali. A good long drive sets the stage for a good experience.

As beautiful Bali is, Tanha Lot temple is even more beautiful and it's one of a kind. It was so beautiful that it felt like a wallpaper with the amazing landscape. The crazy waves hitting the temple , makes it even more picturesque. I can't wait to go back to Bali again and enjoy their great food, culture and understand life on a local level. You are for sure getting in to a peaceful ride, if ever Bali is on your bucket list. I have had the best times in Bali with my family. Everyone loved the temple, the surrounding markets selling traditional Balinese woodcarvings, toys and basically a lot of souvenirs. It's beautiful and totally worth the visit.

Beautiful temple on the Western seashore of Bali.
There are many tourists, and you have to go through another market of endless tourist shops
But the bright side is that the sunset is one of the most beautiful you'll see in your life. And after going down shore, if you go right and up, there is a lot of small restaurant/bars, that are cheap and have an incredible view like the one I posted here.

This is a very beautiful tourist spot located about an hour away from the airport. The highlight is a temple that appears in the middle of the ocean when the tide is high with big waves. We can walk to the temple when the tide is low.

Other than that, the areas around the temple are equally beautiful. The hole cliff nearby is also a great place for people who love to surf. The wind and waves are perfect for advanced surfers.

Of course along the road leading to the entrance is a paradise of local souvenir hunters. The price is very attractive and you will find them the cheapest compared to the same products in other places. Just make sure you grab what you need there unless you plan to go back again.

Beautiful place for the evening. The sunset view is very scenic. The location of the temples is good. Good for families and couples. Won't recommend for bachelors. The crowd is too big to relax here. Not a quite place. For shopping this is best place. With lot of shops and variety of things to buy and eat. If you are planning to visit this place visit in the afternoon after 3pm. Spend sometime in shopping before going to beach as all the shops will be closing after sunset. Bargain well. The more you bargain, lesser the price. While going to Tanah Lot visit coffee estate or small park where you can taste variety of coffee and tea to taste and buy.

One of the major tourist attractions on Bali it is a beautiful sea side temple complex. It is about a hour drive from from the city and packed with tourists so get there early. It’s also very hot and no shade to protect yourself so sunscreen is in order. Great photo ops and beautiful scenery. Enjoy!

Nothing special if you can't go to Temple! from viewpoint just a island in water. I used drone - so it was much more fun, but still.
Market over here is quite okay, but too much attention to tourists.
Quite good place to meet sunset, as sun is going to Touchdown in water. If you are lucky you can see hundreds of bats flying over water.

Decent view out over several temples but very touristy with the entrance surrounded with market and souvenir stalls. Once you are inside the complex there is a nice grassy area and walk along the cliff. You can get close to the shore near the main temple but it's hard to get good photos with all the other people doing the same thing. There are no information boards or any obvious visitors centre so you really need a knowledgeable guide to accompany you if you want any of the history otherwise it's a fairly pleasant place to spend a hour or so but don't expect to find authentic Bali culture here.

A very sacred place with an excellent view. If you sincerely come to pray and are wearing the correct clothing, the priests are more accommodating to let you inside than they are at other sacred places. That was in 2015 and still a very high bar to clear. There's a small cave accessible from the main section that has very tame sea snake that the priests allowed blessings to occur. Be sure to bring some water container to get fresh holy water that pours from the well on the island and filters right down to sea level.

For the nonspiritual visitors beautiful sunsets can be watched while sipping your favorite beverage. Kecak monkey dance performances are also held in the area.

I had seen photos of the Tanah Lot temple before I arrived in Bali and we specifically set out to catch a sunset at the temple. After a little scouting we found a table at one of the cafe's up on the cliffs overlooking the Temple. We waited for sunset and chatted to a family from Chile while we enjoyed the evening. I had a great fruit filled fresh coconut as we waited. We were delighted with a beautiful sunset that continued to change for nearly an hour. I highly recommend this as a place to stop on your tour in Bali.

a historic place where many Balinese come and offer worship or offerings. This place is a rather distant but stunning place where we are presented with magnificent views from the beginning we come to a beautiful beach with fierce waves. the place is quite watery because of the big waves but strangely the stone that we pijaki not slippery, how amazing it is. Not only temples there is a cave and holy snake inside , small snake and there is history back then and we can enter and see with only the contribution as much as we pleased. this place also really provides a lot of souvenirs and cheap. And this place is chargeable and it is affordable for tourist and locals. And this is great to see sun sets.

Amazing sunset over a picturesque temple island. Go to the restaurant on the hill and take a front row seat for the sunset while enjoying food or drink at OK price. Stay after the crowd leave and walk the rock pools beside the temple (anyway you know the return traffic is going to be bad).
More Bargain-able and many tourist trinkets on the way out when it is cooler and there is no one left.

I really enjoyed visiting this fantastic looking beach and seeing the Hindu Temple. Be advised that this seems to be a very popular spot, especially around sunset, which is beautiful to watch from this beach, by the way, as there were many people there, filling just about every place accessible on the beach. Also, expect to pay for entry, and expect to be charged tourist prices for anything you want to buy, as there seemed to be at least half foreign tourists there. Another notable highlight for me was that I got to pet a weasel and get great video of a really big bat. If you're in Bali, this is a great place to see.

It's not a temple cause you have to pay extra money to go up the stairs and see the small temple (I've seen people paying in us dollars) but I like that it's by the sea, it makes it very interesting to me. It's so touristic place tho so you can skip it very easily.. 60k for entrance and 2 k for motorbike parking

When you arrive there you it kinda feels like a tourist trap because there is a big market selling only tourist stuff. When you finally get to the beach and the temple it is crowded and you kinda feel desappointed BUT, if you walk on the beach and the rocks like a hundred meters away from the temple, you get away from the crowd and get a beautiful point of view for the sunset. The sunset on the black rocks with the temple and the huge waves offers a great scenery!

If you want go there, dont do it! It's so touristic and nearly nothing to see. You just see a Temple in the water, and there are 2 spots where you can have a view to the environment of the temple. At these spots you literally see nothing but the cliffs of the coast and the sea.

The rest of the temple-area is currently in a restoring-process (September 2017) so there is nearly nothing interesting to see

It's a very nice place to visit in Bali.
Especially for the photographers. Great sunset view and spectacular view.
The temple is not accessible but I'm not really sure. There is a natural hot water spring. Beware of people asking for money on the name of GOD. Good and reasonable market nearby.

Must see when in Bali. Go early or late in the day, during low tide, so that you can get to the Rock. This is the Vivekananda Rock for Bali. Love the serenity of waves hitting the rocks, green trees, and Temple at the top. Great pictures! Pretty touristy but you already know that. Walk around the grounds and hike along the shore as there are more beautiful scenery to take-in!!

If you're in Bali, this is probably the most touristy spot on the island. It is the mother of all temples. It is very popular to visit for sunset, so expect lots of crowds the shore/rocks area where you can walk is huge, so huge crowds are not much of a big deal if you are hoping to take panoramic shots of the temple. It is fun to walk along the shoreline and view the rock and temple in the distance. Must-visit place!

This place is located in the sea shore. They do have entrance fee. Later below the cave, a person asks for money in the name of donation and demands minimum 5000 to see holy snake which he had in a small box. In order to see the temple, need to get holy water from a person first for which there will be a big queue, later will be allowed into temple which is located 1 level up the came. Place looks beautiful and the sunset.

Amazing! So relaxing to be thanks to the many small shopping streets with gifts, restaurants and bars before you reach the temple itself. Temple is an amazing experience even if you cannot access the actual buildings as a tourist. Look out for the amazing waterfall that drops into the ocean and take 15 mins to enjoy a drink on top of the cliffs.

What a magical place. Many tourists choose to see this place during sunset and I'm sure it's great but following our tour guide recommendation we went there pretty early in the morning and it was worth it. With sun behind and perfect light conditions you can't go wrong with your picture memories not too mention that place were still not overcrowded.

Please visit this place if you come to Bali. Here you can get a wonderful Pura built in the small hill besides the seaside. If you can stay up to the evening, you can see a good sunset view here too. The entrance ticket is 60 thousands rupiahs for an adult international tourist and 20 thousands rupiahs for an adult Indonesian.

Very beautiful temple! Very famous and full of tourists from all over the world. You can get some unforgettable pictures and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Be careful with the slippery rocks, you can easily fall. Oh! And there is a hidden snake (the guardian of the temple) that you can visit and touch for good luck (of course you'll have to make a donation).

You can also stop by the woman that sell KUJAK, which is a mixed of tamarind and other spices on a fruit salad.

Honestly - way over-hyped. I'd say it was the tourists - but in all honesty, it's just not overly exciting period. You can get some wonderful photos; but only if you great conditions. If you're coming to Bali - go see something not on the tourist destination; trust me- you'll have such a better experience!

Beautiful temple. Be careful of the slippery rocks, I had a slip and hurt my elbow. Nothing too serious but could've been worse. The market area is nice and not at all aggressive as opposed to some of the other tourist spots. This temple is a photographer's delight.

Cool combination of Nature and Man. A very pretty spot as the sun sets. Though you will find there are a lot of people who visit this location. Nice view - but a bit of a tourist trap.
Visiting the "sacred water snake" was very disappointing, a guy smoking a cigarette point to a snake, which looked dead, in a hole in the sand. Not sure if he was a monk or just some guy off the street.
Having said that, most people go there for the views and they are quite nice. There is an influx of people at sunset so that you can see the sun set over the island temple.

In my opinion not worth the trip. The nature surrounding Tanah Lot Temple is way more interesting. There are thousands of tourists around the temple, which you cannot even enter. And yes it does look pretty on a sunset. But the temple is tiny and far away.
If you're there just take a walk along the coast. There are some amazing cliffs a few 100m away from the temple.

Great view and picturesque for those who have a knack for photography. Only thing that really pissed me off and spoiled the tour for me was how they treat their animals. They keep large snakes and lizards confined in small little cages where they can barely move. The owls have their wings clipped so they can't even fly. All of this done so tourists pay a heck of alot of money for a picture. It was heartbreaking

It is one of the must see Temples in Bali, Indonesia. Its in the sea, due to which you cannot actually visit it from the inside and that is the reason I rate it 4 stars. The outside is beautiful and specially when the waves hit the rocks. Strongly recommended temple.

Gotta see it once! I recommend the evening an hour or so before Sunset to view the temple. As you walk pass the markets and the corn on the cob stores, you see a small temple on a cliff. That is not Tanah Lot. Follow the signs and as you walk around the bend, you are greeted with this amazing outlying temple. Go at low tide and you can walk up to the temple. A wonderful spiritual place with the ocean and temples. There are a lot of people, so do not expect only you to be in your photos. Recommend to have nice beer and relax in the market area, try a corn on the cob with butter salt and a dash of chilli. It is safe to eat. I had a few Bring a pair of walking shoes or something that grips the wet rocks. There are many single broken slipper/thongs on the rocks. Bring your camera and go enjoy one of the wonders of Bali.
