Such a good time at Arnaud’s place. Beaches are 5min walking and you can explore more around. Every morning you are leaving for a little adventure that can be by boat, car of just by walking to find the surf spot. I wasnt surfing but I had the best days as I was amazed by the beauty of the island and the uncrowded beaches.
Brekki/lunch/dinner is served with everyone around the table as a family. Meals are prepared with love by the girls and we had more enough.

Amazing location in this lost paradise. Best surf experience ever, pointbreaks, slabs, barrels, empty lineups. Loads of food, insane landscape. Family size surfcamp, perfect for everyone. We all felt like family members in just a few hours. Kids, non surfers, everyone is happy here. Only 50 minutes from Bali, it's just unreal.

It's an amazing place to stay if you want to surf, chill and enjoy the wilderness of a remote island. And to tell you the truth i've been there twice.
Arno the host is looking after this camp, and makes sure you enjoy your time.
In the morning, you wake up in front of the spot and depending on the conditions, you either surf it or a driver (often arno) takes you by car or boat to other uncrowded and unbelievable waves.
The food is very healthy, tasty, and you can easily end up full.
In the evening after a pleasant day, you can socialize with the other guests who are also surfers (of course) and share life experience around one bintang (or more).
It's just the perfect life there.

We came to the place in August. Didn’t turn out as expected.
The fee was 65 US$ a night, including transportation and food, which was way overpriced for what we experienced.
Try a very basic camp, with no internet (unlike advertised), no hot water nor flushing toilets.
Power not working nighttime and not even consistent daytime which was a problem to charge our device.
It's okay to stay in basic conditions (especially in an island like Sumba), but you expect more for that price and you especially want to know what you pay for beforehand (had called 3 times).
The service was poor, with a serious lack of organization & constant delays to drop us on the spots (=less time in the water), insufficient spots in the cars, etc.
Problems occurred everyday, with a host more eager to blame his crew instead of taking responsibility.
As for the food, a little variety doesn’t kill. We ate the same meals everyday and quantity was even lacking at times, quite an issue when you feed a bunch of surfers spending their day in the water.
The host was unfriendly, not willing to share much local knowledge & looked annoyed everytime we asked him for anything in a dismissive manner.
He seemed uninterested in his guests, showing an unconcerned attitude most of the time.
The taxi fare that he charged us from the airport was also ridiculously expensive. More than twice the fare that you see in Bali.
Before booking we were asked to bypass Booking website to avoid him to pay fees and to pay for our 6 nights in full in a pushy way. Don't make the same mistake.
We aborted the trip after 3 days, and asked for a gesture for the nights we had blown out. We were turned down without an inch of consideration.
Long story short, unprofessional host who tells you whatever you want to hear beforehand to take your money; the overall experience felt like a true rip off.
Go elsewhere to experience this jewel of an island (Sumba is amazing !) with good vibes around you.response / report this review -

Super mellow place, with no crowds and great vibe in the house. arnaud (the owner) was always really nice and helpful to us.
Can't wait to come back and spend a longer time..

We just spent a week full of great experiences. Even though the surf wasn't epic due to the winds being a bit strong in August , Arnaud made everything possible to make our stay the best experience possible. Arnaud is really connected and respectfull of the local community and will take you to the most typical villages of the region. The house is just 100 meters from the beach and has some of the nicest sunrises you'll ever see! Thx arnaud, we'll be back

Wow, Really amazing place that Arnold has built here. Food is great, long right hander out the front and comfortable clean accomodation. Very eco friendly! Will be back for sure!!

A special place, Arnoud and his friendly staff makes you feel at home immediately and he goes out of his way to make sure your stay is an amazing experience be it surf trips to the best break, traditional village visit and understanding the local culture. The airy building made from natural timbers fits in perfectly to the beautiful natural and peaceful surrounds. We had the top room with private viewing chill out loft. Loved the large open air shared bathroom. The food is delicious and there's loads of it..crepes , currys, pasta, pizza to bbq local fish..you'll never go hungry. Close to the beach just a minute up a little hill gives an amazing view and cooling breeze. No mossies when we were there. We had a fantastic time and would love to visit again sometime.

Went there a few times. And will keep going. Nothing to complain about. Excellent food. Arnaud makes you feel at home. He takes you to different breaks with his boat. I just got back home, and already plan hollidays to go back there.
