Up on a hill, sits a monumental Catholic church whose parishioners celebrated its 172th year of existence in May 2018. Read the history of this St Joseph Church (1846-2016) written by church historian Clement Liew on how this church is tied to the beginnings of the mission station, the French Missionaries founded for the first Chinese Catholics sojourning and settling on this island and the foundation story of the Catholic church in Singapore. It's a wonderful Catholic Church! Full of nostalgia. The true Church is her People, GOD's people!

I love this old Catholic Church. The ambience is peaceful and prayerful, surrounded by the Rosary Garden and life-size stations of the Cross. It offers a place of solitude and quiet reflection with God, away from the busyness of daily life.

Church on the top of the hill and a bit far from main road. I feel windy and comfortable here.

A Church deeply rooted with history and tradition. This year marks its 169th Anniversary! In the past it has contributed much to the surrounding communities, irregardless of religion, particularly the many surrounding Chinese kampong, before the British era. Now its legacy is shown by the many educational institutes surrounding it, on whose land they all rest, CHIJ Our Lady Queen of Peace, Assumption English & Pathway and Boys Town. Despite the rapid progress of the surrounding landscape, the iconic tower, which houses the Church bells, sill stands prominent for all to see.

Oldest Catholic church in Singapore besides Cathedral, newly renovated but retains classic feeling. Popular at Good Friday and Lent because of the life sized Stations of the Cross. Historical cemetary where archbishops are buried.
