  Konon dulu tempat ini dipakai sebagai tempat balapan kuda. Sebenarnya tempat ini kurang layak untuk dijadikan lokasi acara karena tiap kali ada event harus menutup jalan utama, atau paling tidak membuat kemacetan. Namun, bagaimana lagi? Tempat ini ikonik.

  Simpang Balapan used to be a place to run the Horse Race when the Dutch still colonize Indonesia. Now this place is a four-way roundabout with the statue of Hamid Rusdi in the middle, as a tribute to the heroes who served in the city of Malang.
