UPDATE: I wrote this review a while back, seems like people are more critical of the food. recent reviews.
Food is awesome, service is awesome, so just shut up and came here to listen to the delightful jazz. What more do you want? Japanese food and jazz is a match made in heaven.
Came for an early dinner at 6pm with my 2 year old son, staff were obviously unhappy we had a child. Staff were unwelcoming, and one lady rolled her eyes when my son was chattering to himself (not screaming) Not a great place for kids. Was rather pricey and sushi was average.
Came for early quiet dinner with friends. One other table was occupier at the jazz bar above, no live band playing. We ordered rice bowl (don) sets, tuna belly was disappointing. Others were just ok. Sushi had more rice stuffed than fish. Just ok. Service prompt.
Very great ambience, i went on monday night the live music was really really great. Very enjoyable! Must seat upstairs! The food is good but not so many wine choices
We arrived a bit early to have dinner & decided to try the sushi, which was good. Service was efficient & quick. We didn't book a table upstairs where the jazz band was performing & it was full, but our waitron arranged for us to sit @ the bar. The place was packed, the crowd diverse & from many places across the globe. Despite this most people had an AWESOME time..dancing between tables..singing along..& so did we! Would definitely recommend the jazz nights!!
Sushi and sashimi real good test, also for tempura, but for udon and different plate it not so high quality, price standar for this place.
Although the atmosphere is nice I wouldn't come again to eat. Sushi and miso was not good and it is quite pricey
Good atmosphere and quick service good and food was nice
Good food.. good place & Very entertainment for life jazz music on monday must come to this place very recomended 👍👍👍
Coming to this place made me adjust my expectations of Japanese food. Having tasted great Japanese cuisine and sushi from all over the world, this place obviously did not serve such high quality cuts.
The sushi quality was sub par but the price was decent, place was empty and service was okay.
My partner's tuna was not exactly the freshest but was served fast, while my pork katsu rice took ages as if the the meat needed to be grilled for ages before serving.
One thing we ordered that was good was the meat sticks.
Sauces available was pretty weird tasting too, but I guess given that the prices are ranged from 50,000 to 90,000 idr, you can't complain much.
If you have a slightly higher budget and want really good tasting Japanese food, please don't bother eating here.
But if your expectations are low, want a nice cosy place to chill out with friends and family (they have nice big tables for families), you can try the food here.
Thank God they got the rice right, otherwise this would have been a complete failure.
Service was slow, our meals didn't come out together or within 10 minutes of each other. The server forgot the beer, but that's okay she was involved in a conversation with 2 other servers.
The miso soup was okay, and the least Japanese thing on the menu being deep fried mozzarella sticks was very good also.
When engaged with the customers the servers couldn't carebut when having their conversations with each other, they sound enthusiastic.
The Sushi was horrible. I couldn’t even bite through one of the sushi sets we got (I believe it was the yellow tail). We ordered a variety of dishes and none were good. One thing I hate is warm sushi because it just makes me feel like it’s not fresh. well their sushi was warm and it did not taste fresh at all. I also ordered a mango daiquiri and it was warm, tasteless and blended completely wrong. It was nothing compared to the other yummy ICY daiquiris that I had in Bali. Bottom line, if you want fresh sushi, don’t go to Ryoshi. Oh and to top it all off, the service was the worst that we had while in Bali. The waitresses just seemed uninterested in helping. Horrible experience.
Good food ,I been here more than 5 times, but the restaurant looks old and a bit dirty
Gorgeous yet inexpensive. Have Jazz band every second night
Been eating in and out japanese meals here since 2010.good price, good food, great jamming for local intl also musician
Awesome Japanese food, great jazz, blues and world music on a Monday night
Nice atmosphere inside, sushi was good but maybe not the freshest. Chicken rice dish was not delicious for me. A bit expensive.
Not sure what the reviewers below ate or drank 😏, but the food I got was really crap, service was slow and not very friendly. Coupled with high prices the place is shit
Tasty sushi platters at a fair price. Recommend!
Price is a bit more expensive BUT they have best ambience for a mix of jazz and sushi. Service is average. Nice place to enjoy food, drink and music
Nice typical sushi restaurant. Fair price for value
We love this place. Good food for good price and always good music. Great atmosphere.
Great miso and sushi :)
One of our favourites when we are in Seminyak for good, cheap and authentic Japanese food, great Jazz and ambience. Waitstaff are friendly too.
It's amazing place with amazing concerts. The singer who perform on Mondays has Russian girlfriend and he usually sings two Russian songs during his performance
Surprised this place still gets good reviewswe ate there last Saturday night and ordered a bunch of stuff and it was all not great. Actually the ceviche was ok. Mixed grill not enough spice or marinade or taste. Seaweed salad chewy .Eggplant dish undercooked and bland .etc etc.
2nd time in Bali and always eat here!! Fast service, reasonable price, great japanese food. Will keep coming back!!
The best japanese restaurant and house of jazz in bali
Nice parking at seminyak, nice place, cheap prize
Nice staff, good decor, average tasting food. Smaller maki/sashimi selection than expected. A lot of katsu and idon choices though. Overall, nothing special.
Great grub in a fun restaurant. Cold Bintang which is always good
Went to Ryoshi with friends great Jazz band, Sushi was good, service a little disorganised, but hey, It's Bali!! Jazz band plays on Mondays, wednesdays and thursday, they are very good musicians.
Maybe I was expecting too much as I thought, well, we're actually in Asia, and there's fresh fish and good Google reviews, etc, but honestly it was a bit disappointing. The tuna in the maki and sashimi was gristly rather than melt-in-the-mouth, the futomaki was almost tasteless, and even the wasabi seemed weaker. There's a much higher standard of sushi in non-coastal London. Service also quite brusque. Serviceable though, but you'd be better off getting a local Balinese meal for half the (admittedly still low) price!
Haven't been upstairs, which may be lovely
Great food, affordable price, one of the best chicken Teriyaki, yet the salmon we ordered; they haven't been deboned it perfectly
1st floor wonderful Japonese food, 2nd floor traditional alive jazz-pop music, beautiful people, really good option to eat and listen to a good music.
Nice place for chill with jazz show on monday wednesday and friday nice food and yuumy
Great atmosphere, good prices, tasty food, and live jazz balinese fusion music Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 815pm.
Was nice sitting outside but can be noisy with the traffic. My sushi was very good. The gyoza tasted good but could have been a little more crispy. Service was very good.
Loved the food, the quality and presentation. The price was reasonable and the staff helpful and friendly. Amazing Japanese restaurant in Seminyak.
Food was ok,just. Sevice was unfriendly. If you want great food and friendly service go to Maiko across the street.
Located on Legian street. Perfect place if you like live music (Monday, Wednsday and Friday). They often play Jazz. It is also a Japanese restaurant, the food is Ok but not my favorite.
It was a nice place to have lunch, quite a big food selection and what we had was tasty. Everything seemed clean and comfortable. Prices were ok though portions were small, felt more like tapas than a main portion. The seating was a cool Japanese style and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Great japanese food, well priced, cheap beer, decent staff, clean and nice decor. Didnt see the live music but will go back to see how it is and get more sushi.
Downstairs A/C was so hot that it was probably colder to sit outside. Sushi and sashimi came and it was warm already. However, food was quick and tasted good regardless
Best jazz music club all over Indonesia dedicated to world jammers
Decent sushi restaurant although there are better around Bali. Price is higher than others due to its location in the very touristic area of Seminyak. Often play live music.
Nice Japanese restaurant with a jazzy/rocky atmosphere. The food is good.
Tax and service fees are added on the bill.
Greeted by rather uninterested staff to a table with a stained tablecloth.
The food was tasty and there was plenty to choose from.
Owned by Japanese and run by local Balinese, overall we were disappointed.
It certainly lacked that Japanese charisma which adds to ones overall experience
