I can call it international harbour because I can see some foreigners as the passengers. Mostly they want to go to Karimun Jawa.
We can find food stall around the harbour selling local food such as soto.
The government put some announcement such as boat schedule, docking schedule. But it is all in Bahasa Indonesia

I recommend for buy a express ticket boat (VIP class, optional), you get a good people, service and seat. Jepara to karimunjawa just 2 hours with express boat

Pantai Kartini, aka Pelabuhan Jepara is the only access to Karimun Jawa Underwater National Park. The Port is now getting better, more clean and more organise, if you happen to arrive early morning, don't worry warung bu bambang welcomes people 24/7, inexpensive and very humble and cooperative by ibu and bapak bambang. The food is so homy, I tried theie best ikan pari asap, sayur rebung and more

There are only 2 vessels (slow & fast boat) for a day and about 300 passengers capacity each.
Better wait in line at 4 a.m coz the unpredictability tickets mostly sold at 6.
Backpackers, i strongly suggest not to come here at local high season (Idul Fitri, Christmas & new year)
