Disgusting. Wanted to visit Indonesia but after seeing this I will never go there. This place is horror for animals. You'd have to be a psychopath to want to visit this place.

This is a disgusting market which enables horrible cruelty to so many animals. This market supports the dog meat trade and many dogs and cats here are blugeoned to death with wooden poles or even burned alive because they believe their adrenaline and fear makes them taste better. Recent videos shot at this market and another one in North Sulawesi in February show dogs cowering in cages as workers pull the howling animals out and bludgeon their heads with wooden batons while visitors to the market, some with children, watch. Often still moving, the animals are then blasted with blowtorches to remove their hair in preparation for butchering. Please do not support this sickening mistreatment of helpless beings and AVOID THIS MARKET! Indonesia needs to stop being complacent towards the brutal abuse of animals occurring at this market and the government needs to step in and stop all of this suffering and cruelty.

You’d have to be a psychopath to work @ or visit this dump. I’ve always wanted to visit Indonesia but not after reading about torturing dogs alive. It’s disgusting.

Why this place is touted to tourists is beyond me! You like watching animals literally being tortured to death, the sick stench of rotting and burning flesh in your nostrils, and to hear the piercing screams of the innocent? You like seeing animals that you have at home for pets being poked with sharp objects and burned alive in front of your eyes? If so, you should go to the nearest tall building and jump. If there is a place that could be described as being anywhere close to hell, this is it! My god, don’t come here and give these people money for these heinous acts.
