Great food with lovingly sourced materials, not just run of the mill continental fare. Plenty of healthy and vegan options as well. Price is about 300k rupiah for a meal for 2, another 100k if you include a Nalu Bowl from the stand below as dessert. Nalu bowls are themselves a healthy treat made of various combinations of fruit, soy and nut.

The ambience is good, and the service is competent. I'm probably being harsh with a 4 star rating. The food is definitely the highlight of this rustic tropical cafe/resto.

Nalu now has branches in Jakarta as well, but going to their Bali root is compulsory, eh?

    Ordered two smoothie bowls.
A lot of places is already serving this kind of bowls, but I see that Nalu adds ingredients that unexpectedly turn out tasty, like half-ripe mangoes, coconut flakes, and the rest that you have to try yourself ;)
    They tasted so great.

The price.. well, we don't really think about price when we come here, but if I were to describe, it's on the pricey side.

Would definitely come back here again for the lunch options!

I love how you discover this gem in the middle of nowhere - the ambiance when you get up there is just so chill, with a bit of a view and lots of art all over the walls. I got the Nalu bowl here and I loveeeddd how flavorful it is! The texture and the freshness of the fruits just made it a yummy experience. They have wifi here too! Just a bit of struggle to call attention of the servers then especially since I was alone but eventually got attended to. Good for friends, family and even solo adventurers!

We came across this place when looking for a cool drink when walking back to the hotel. The drinks were all good, I enjoyed my ginger tonic. The gluten free baked goods not really to my taste but still fine. The lunch is great value for money though (chicken sandwiches). Would come back for a healthy drink and lunch again. Only complaint was that they were a bit slow to get drinks out

Although a quiet morning, service was extremely slow. The cooked breakfast was the first out then the espresso and by the time the cooked breakfast was finished the nula bowl arrived. Four ingredients must be hard to put together! And it wasn't very good.

Food is good with a lot of choices, plenty of seating area and the service is quick and professional as in most places in Bali.

Really adorable place, with a real island/Hawaii feel. We came for their acai bowl but they were sold out, and the credit card machine doesn't work. Overall good food and nice staff though.

The bowls are surprisingly filling but we went twice during our week long holiday and they were out of the traditional acai bowls and said they wouldn't get any in for a few weeks. The price is higher than what I would expect in Bali but you always pay a premium for 'healthy' food. Service could be improved and there was a very long wait for our bowls both times we went. The view from the Shelter cafe is great and I would definitely recommend trying to eat up there instead of downstairs.

Food, smoothies, and coffee was so good. My boyfriend and I ended up coming here twice during our stay in Bali. It can be crowded, but staff is accommodating! Highly recommend!

Great and really really delicious, filling as well as healthy small dishes. The bowls taste as they look - tropical! Everything is freshly prepared and served. Three extras (more granola and many others) are available for free on Tuesdays and for a small surcharge also on all other days of the week.

The atmosphere upstairs at Shelter Café is great too and you can get drinks and other food and beverages there as well, so don't miss to enjoy your Nalu Bowls upstairs not right next to a noisy street!

The interior design is nice n fresh, the waiter n waitresses are friendly. But the food is bland maybe cause it doesn't suit local's taste like me, and when i just sat down next to my partner the waitress asked me to move just in case if there are some other customer that might join in my table later if it is getting more crowded later. Well, until i leave, no one need to sit with us. The waitress was polite anyway.

Nice place for breakfast. Ordered the Maverick smoothie bowl and their homemade chai tea. The bowl was refreshing and the tea was great. Definitely coming back when I get a chance
P.S. The taxi driver seems to only know the place as "Shelter"

Edit: came back here again. Had J Bay smoothie bowl and ice coconut latte. Again feeling so refreshed. Definitely coming back when I get another chance

A bit pricey comparing to local Indonesian restaurants with 60-85k for a smoothie bowl but still worth it. Really nice atmosphere at The shelter where you will be sittning if you dont order take away. Fresh, modern and healthy smoothie bowls, very tasty and perfect for a vegan like me. The shelter also serves great coffee.
