I came here during my one-day trip at Makassar. The museum is built in the center of very well-known Somba Opu stronghold built in 16th century by Gowa Kingdom. In those years, this location was surrounded by foreign traders settlement (Portuguese, Denmark, Deutch, China, Britain) which later overthrew the kingdom, seized the bastion as well as the economic power of Gowa in 1669. Unfortunately this extremely valuable historical site is not properly maintained and the museum was closed during my trip at weekend. Very unfortunate.
