Masjid Raya Sultan Riau Penyengat is the Mosque of the Sultan of Riau which located in Penyengat Island.
This is a historical site about the culture of the Malay world.
The Malay people is an Austronesian ethnic group and nation native to the Malay Peninsula, eastern Sumatra of Indonesia and coastal Borneo, as well as the smaller islands which lie between these locations. Those smaller islands are Kepulauan Riau, where the Penyengat island is lying.
This site is a relic of Malay culture and the Malay language which is the source of Bahasa Indonesia.
The Mosque according to the history was built by the mixture of sand, clay, limestone, and albumen in the beginning.
This Mosque was expanded and bigger now, besides the place for praying also as a historical site and touristic object.
There's a boat schedule every hour from Tanjung Pinang or from another place to this island.
Besides the Mosque you can find a graveyard of the Sultan's families and the Sultan's retainers.response / report this review -

Bright yellow color of masjid, very crowded in hajj raya. Nice view, oldest masjid in kepri, good restroom & wudhu.

Mengagumkan.. kebesaran Allah SWT bahwa dijaman doeloe yg peralatan terbatas di tengah pulau terpencil telah mengutus manusia pilihan utk membangun t4 ibadah yg cantik arstistik..

For non muslims, you can climb the stairs up and chill outside the mosque, the view is quite good there. There's a lot to discover from the history of the mosque. For those who are interested in Malay kingdom history and their traditions are recommended to visit this place. But it's just kind of boring if you stayed to long there
