One of my top three favorites in SE Asia. I have lived here in Thailand for 12 years and been to all Asian countries many times and off the beaten paths. Try Leo's and Maruba to eat. Ask Leo for jungle juice. First one is free with your meal. Cheers!

Small gem I would recommend to anyone looking for a quite place to relax and watch the stars. Beautiful lake during the day and few restaurants and bars available on the island to chill.

It was really great experience for me every time I visit lake Toba. The beautiful scenery surrounding this lake was very nice. You can stay in Parapat area, if you want to explore lake Toba. Or you can take ferry from Parapat to samosir island through ajibata harbours. The food was quite nice but too spicy for me. I really enjoyed my visit here and want to come here again in the future.. worth to visit !

The very beautiful place and view. But lake toba need more improvement in every aspect. From year to year, the guest who ever come, didn't see a new part that make this place more interesting. But still worth to be come.

It used to be that only the most die hard tourist could visit Lake Toba it was the case that you needed to catch a ferry to the main land to go to an ATM and everything was cash. Now it has all changed and there are ATMs and hotels accept card payment and dozens of amazing places to visit and explore. Things are far better now. Worth hiring a motor bike and exploring the island as well as swimming in the lake. Highly recommend a visit.

Its good place to go! Ngga pernah bosen dateng ke danau toba. Suasananya selalu bikin nyaman dan tenang. Salah satu tempat yang wajib dikunjungi. Bahkan sempat berfikir kalau ini bukan danau, tapi ini laut! Terlalu besar untuk dikatakan sebagai danau.

Huge lake as like sealots of viewpoints ..awesome view..very deep lake and at very high altitudes. Road communication are excellent. There is an international airport (silangit airport-DTB) just 1 hour away from this lake. Many standard and luxurious hotels are available. Also it can be reached from medan, 3 hours drive. Temperature around the year very comfortable.

A little difficulties to get there. In rain, there may be some possibilities of landslide.Take great care, which, otherwise, can take life.But happy to see the big lake. Very few restaurants,and in rainy season, very few tourists,and not happy to see killing fishes and prawns on order and cooking, that is cruel for Vegans.

Great place to explore if you are ever travelling around the area. It’s a huge lake but if you are visiting I think it’s best to go with a guide

Lake Toba is one of the biggest lake in North Sumatera. The lake is huge and I really enjoy the local culture around the lake. A week was not enough to explore it!

The lake itself is stunning. A fresh air, calm and soothing sound of water from the lake , Vast blue sky and surrounded by green landscape, I just cant get enough of this.
