Another pristine beach of the West Sumba Regency. This coastline is raw and dynamic with a very strong energy, and the beach at Katobo is another great beach. The dense jungle behind the beach is also special with some very mature trees giving the landscape a beautiful canopy. I wouldn't be surprised if some of sumba's endemic bird species live here. If you like an adventure you can trek up the hill behind for one of the best views in the area. This coast somehow grounds you and brings perspective to life, maybe because it's so untouched by the modern world or maybe the spiritual culture of the locals who have lived here for thousands of years has enriched the area, either way it suits the traveler looking for inspiration and adventure. Two decent waves out the front also. I wouldn't be surprised to see a nice resort here in the coming years. I just hope they do it the right way and are sensitive to the locals and environment. This is a special spot!!
