  First off I'd like to say that batam, indonesia was amazing and beautiful and 99 out of 100 people i met on the island were incredibly nice people and very helping.
  
  The owner whom i assume is the young asian male age early 20s light skin about 55kg /120lbs 5'8 i included picture included below chased after me, my father and brother and assaulted me ( hit me in face ) and tried to rip off my backpack as we were leaving to get into our taxi .
  
  Back story -we rented 3 scooters for the day and my fathers scooter was in a minor accident and the front mirror broke off (pictures below) , in which the owner asked for $400 american dollars to replace the mirror , which i believe is excessive as you can by a used scooter on batam island for $100-$200 american dollars. We eventually settled at $300 us dollars for a broken mirror . - even after having our money in his hand already , he continued to yell at us and " wished death to us and for us foreigners to go back to our country " and that he wished we would get in a car crash/scooter accident and die " a bit excessive no ?
  Id like to add his wife/ sister was very nice the whole time during the situation and was very calm . We asked the owner to calm down and there was no need to yell and use foul language but he refused on continued with the threats , we had to leave for a flight back to the united states in a few hours and as we were leaving i offered my hand out for a handshake as a sign of respect as i am american and he is indonesian but he refused.
  
  He threatened to call the police on us , he had $300 us american dollars in his hands for the broken mirror and continued to threaten and berate us , he even tried to cancel the "go-jek" (indonesian rideshare app)which he was able too thank god the "go jek " driver was nice and took us still so that we could still catch our ferry.
  
  Negative experience- the young asian male owner assaulted me even after we paid $300 us dollars for broken mirror after our scooter rental.
  
  I wanted to contact the indonesian police regarding the assault but we had a flight to catch a few hours later and didnt have the time speak to police . how would you guys have handled this situation ? Thanks

  I loved batam overall but i probrably wont return due to this incident.
  
  Do not do business with this guy especially if you are a foreigner as he may hold your passport hostage, thankfully we put a $300 dollar deposit and only lost that instead of our passports . if this incident occured in the united states this man would be in jail.Unprofessional and threatened violence.
