An oases in the Tarakan City, North Kalimantan. The well known abundant-oil city. Hopefully, Google change the address with the newest Province, North Kalimantan. Previously, East Kalimantan. Just walk and hear the natural whisper, relax and peaceful. You can meet the Bekantan along side your walk in this conservation site. I always love to self-foot including this very rare place to find!

Unfortunately the mangrove forest is very badly maintained. Most of the benches are broken, there are tons of trash everywhere and the wooden paths are in very bad condition so you rather mind where you step than looking up to the trees to look for monkeys and birds.

I question if it’s recommended to support such a project with the 5000 IDRs entrance fee (as the money seams to go somewhere else?).

Still, I would say it is worth to visit if you have nothing else to do.
If you take your time to sit somewhere quiet for a while you can see lots of as animals such as funny crabs digging their wholes, different birds, monitor lizards, monkeys and many more.

5 stars because is probably the only interesting thing to see in tarakan. The park is quite big and give a lot of space to the monkeys. It s a really relaxing place to go for a walk and close to the centre of tarakan city. 5k rupiah to get in

You can see Bekantan and another monkey species. But they are hiding behind trees. You should get in further to be able to see them. Feeding time is keep changing. It's better to ask the guard when will the next feeding time be.

It's an ok afternoon. 5000 entrance. Walk on boardwalk over mangroves. You'll see the proboscis monkeys. Unfortunately, a couple cages with neglected eagles.

pretty big conservative mangrove, it was very dark, as the trees were very high and block the sunshine coming in. it was good to see the unique species of monkey (bekantan).
