Masjid Agung Demak is the big mosque in Demak regency. It is located in Central Java Province of Indonesia. It is very big mosque with wide area. We can visit this place by car about an hour from Semarang city, the capital city of Central Java Province. Demak is also very popular with Roseapple fruit, name Jambu Demak. This fruit is very juicy and sweet. There are alot of roseapple trees that also make this regency green. Jambu demak is cheap in price and good for our health bcoz it is a nutricious fruit.

Demak mosque serves as icon of religious tourism in Central Java. Masjid Agung Demak (or Demak Great Mosque) is one of the oldest mosques in Indonesia.
The mosque is believed to be built by the Nine Muslim Saints (Wali Songo) with the most prominent figure Sunan Kalijaga, during the first Demak Sultanate ruler, Raden Patah during the 15th century.
Rligious tourism [during Ramadan] is booming. Many people use the occasion to visit this Mosque
I recommend you to visit this traditional architecture mosque.

Masjid Agung Demak is one of the most historical mosque in Java. The ambience is very calm, you can pray and go hangout with friends in Alun-alun.
You may find a lot of pilgrims that comes even in the midnite. This place is never stop.
There are some homestay if you want to stay, or just sleep around the mosque area like the other people.response / report this review -
