This was such an amazing experience that my daughter, partner and I had. We recently went here in May 2018 and paid 150,000IDR to release a baby (8 months old) turtle into the wild. The husband and wife run this sanctuary completely on volunteered hours and donations. They also during the low season still ensure these turtles are fed and well looked after (on their own wages from other income - not sure how they have the time!). We released 3 turtles into the wild and loved every second of it. Definitely worth the day trip to Gili Meno :)

Small initiative to save turtles. Egs are hached in secured environment and turtles are kept in seawater basins during one year. You put a turtle into the sea by giving a donation.

Highly recommended. It's a noble cause ,and the volunteers educate and show you about the turtles. It was heart warming and pleasure to donate money for such a nice initiative by the locals.

Good to see that locals are helping the turtles by raising the hatchlings in a safe manner before releasing them into the wild.

You can see baby turtles but the man who takes care of them doesn't speak with you unless you ask him question he can reply with short answersNot really friendly

Nice idea to make money. but i doubt, these cute turtles have a better childhood in those small pools and learn to survive before getting released

Simple Turtle Sanctuary. I hope the government help to improve this place. The guard just laying down just like the turtle may be she was tired. I think with the donation it won't enough to revitalize this place. By the way, DO NOT TOUCH the babies turtle especially if you use subscreen or any other chemical on your hand, it kills the turtle.

An awesome place, the staff were very helpful.
We were told they gather turtle eggs or they are brought to them by locals, they hatch them, raise them.
Once they are 6 to 8 months old people can pay to release one.
The money goes back into preservation of green turtles.

We were lucky enough to be there on the day the turtles were released back into the sea and we sponsored one. If you are there at this time do it, lovely end to our trip in the Gili's

Four small pools with turtles in a dirty cottage. I personally doubt that it is a sanctionary, rather a tourist attraction. Absolutely not worth a visit..

It has been long and consistent, tirelessly preserving the turtle species on the island. Need support from visitors, of course. Great work!

The lady running this place relies on donations to feed the turtles. They are kept for about 8 months before releasing to give them a better chance of survival.

Very cute baby sea turtles. Make a donation and help raise these little guys so they can be released back to sea. Those turtles you see nearby when you go out snorkeling may very well have been raised and released here!
