One of the fantastic place to visit. Sukuh temple is a Javanese Hindu Temple that is located on the western slope of Mount Lawu. On the border between Central and East Java provinces.
Different thematic reliefs will be find. Consisting of education life before birth and sexual education.

This actually a very beautiful temple too, eventhough the scenery here is not as grand as from ceto temple. But the architecture here is very nice. Too bad there are some vandals scratching their names on the stone (like, please!) - along with their junior high schools name. Ckckckck!

Lokasi bersih dan Pemandangannya Bagus, taman ini dilengkapi dengan papan informasi yang cukup jelas untuk memahami sejarah candi tersebut.
harga masuk relatif murah Nusantara 7rb dan Mancanegara 25rb. dan lokasi juga tidak begitu jauh dari pusat Kota Solo berkendara menggunakan motor sekitar 1 Jam.

Nice place. Hire a Transport since bus service is not available.
Reliefs are no comparison to Borobudur or Prambanan but the view from the hill is just breathtaking.
Connect this temple with Candi Cetoh and a visit to the near tea plantations.

Candi Sukuh adalah sebuah kompleks candi agama Hindu yang secara administrasi terletak di wilayah Desa Berjo, Kecamatan Ngargoyoso, Kabupaten Karanganyar,Jawa Tengah
Candi ini dikategorikan sebagai candi Hindu karena ditemukannya objek pujaan lingga dan yoni. Candi ini unik dan lain daripada yang lain karena bentuknya yang kurang lazim dan karena penggambaran alat-alat kelamin manusia secara eksplisit pada beberapa figurnya.
Situs candi Sukuh dilaporkan pertama kali pada masa pemerintahan Britania Raya di tanah Jawa pada tahun 1815 oleh Johnson, Residen Surakarta. Johnson kala itu ditugasi oleh Thomas Stanford Raffles untuk mengumpulkan data-data guna menulis bukunya The History of Java. Setelah masa pemerintahan Britania Raya berlalu, pada tahun 1842, Van der Vlis, arkeolog Belanda, melakukan penelitian. Pemugaran pertama dimulai pada tahun 1928.
Lokasi candi Sukuh terletak di lereng kaki Gunung Lawu pada ketinggian kurang lebih 1.186 meter di atas permukaan laut pada koordinat 07o37, 38’ 85’’ Lintang Selatan dan 111o07,. 52’65’’ Bujur Barat. Candi ini terletak di Dukuh Sukuh, Desa Berjo, Kecamatan Ngargoyoso, Kabupaten Karanganyar, Jawa Tengah. Candi ini berjarak kurang lebih 20 kilometer dari kota Karanganyar dan 36 kilometer dari Surakarta.
Bangunan candi Sukuh memberikan kesan kesederhanaan yang mencolok pada para pengunjung. Kesan yang didapatkan dari candi ini sungguh berbeda dengan yang didapatkan dari candi-candi besar di Jawa Tengah lainnya yaitu Candi Borobudur dan Candi Prambanan. Bentuk bangunan candi Sukuh cenderung mirip dengan peninggalan budaya Maya di Meksiko atau peninggalan budaya Inca di Peru. Struktur ini juga mengingatkan para pengunjung akan bentuk-bentuk piramida di Mesir.
Kesan kesederhanaan ini menarik perhatian arkeolog termashyur Belanda, W.F. Stutterheim, pada tahun 1930. Ia mencoba menjelaskannya dengan memberikan tiga argumen. Pertama, kemungkinan pemahat Candi Sukuh bukan seorang tukang batu melainkan tukang kayu dari desa dan bukan dari kalangan keraton. Kedua, candi dibuat dengan agak tergesa-gesa sehingga kurang rapi. Ketiga, keadaan politik kala itu dengan menjelang keruntuhan Majapahit, tidak memungkinkan untuk membuat candi yang besar dan megah.
Para pengunjung yang memasuki pintu utama lalu memasuki gapura terbesar akan melihat bentuk arsitektur khas bahwa ini tidak disusun tegak lurus namun agak miring, berbentuk trapesium dengan atap di atasnya.

Came here when student's holiday was over so it wasn't that crowded. Probably one of the cleanest and well maintained tourism spots in Solo. The ticket is less than $1 and if you show your KITAS here you can get the same price as if you're domestic tourists. The view is great when you rich the top, the temple keep reminding you that Indonesia's culture is so rich, I keep reminding myself that I'm in Indonesia. Parking lot is basically a local's backyard, costs 2k. Coming here is better if you're off very early.

This place is so interesting. Great little Temple, reminds me a bit of the Mayan temples in Mexico especially as it has a connection to the underworld. Lots of lingga and yoni too!

pretty nice temple with some fresh flower garden around and nice scenery, but it was so crowded when holiday comes.
The tickets was so cheap. It was 7k for domestic tourist and 25k for foreign tourist.
