Positively surprised by Batanta area. Beautiful homestay surrounded by green Papuan jungle. The traditional bungalow is basic but very comfortable. Delicious simple meals with a lot of variation. The family made us feel like at home. The Dugong House Reef is awesome. Just snorkeling you can see so much marine life. The corals are amazing. On top fish schools, sharks, turtles and manta rays if you're lucky. They offer scuba diving as well. Dive guide Efraim knows how to find the wobbegong Sharks, Pygmy seahorses etc. They even organize boat tours to popular dive sites and manta points. Make sure to visit the villages Arefi and Kampung Baru to see local culture. We only stayed for 4 nights but enjoyed every moment. All in all a wonderful experience and we will certainly come back.
