One of the most beautiful synagogue in Central-Eastern Europe both from interior and architectural point of view. The garden s currently under replanting, so the surrounding is a bit flat nowadays, but I am sure it's going to be even better

Visited the old and new synagogues via a tour guide from the Szeged Tourism office recently, which I highly recommend you do. Although there is plenty of information on the Internet already about these two synagogues, for 1,000 HUF (under £3) for a one hour tour with a tour guide that includes entrance fee to the new synagogue I would highly recommend a tour guide. The new synagogue has the WOW factor, both externally and internally. The blue colour scheme, bright;y painted windows, the overall size and history of the place is fascinating. There is a section that commemorates the Holocaust victims of the World War II concentration camps and sections of the tour that mention the trees outside, jewish torah, baby garden and painted windows; all of which are linked together through history. The new synagogue has recently been renovated and so now looks even more beautiful.

In spite of being in a small town in Hungary this is the 4th largest synagogue in the world. Impressive building!!
