  Had a great experience turning in my absentee ballot for the 2016 election. The staff was dealing with some unruly man who demanded a temporary passport. They were extremely patient despite how unreasonable he was. To the staff, thank you for serving!!

  Extremely kind staff, both Hungarian and US personnel. All emails and calls were answered and response times were within 1 business day. I am very greatful to have this embassy and their services in Hungary. The Consular can be proud of a great staff with a positive work ethic and support for any individual. Thank you again!

  Provided very good service after I lost my passport. Tips:
  
  1. Come to the second south-most entrance of you are a US citizen.
  
  2. Arrive before 9AM if you need same day service. I showed up at 8:15 and was let right in.
  
  3. Bring 1500 huf cash or coin for your passport photo. Best option = 1) 1000 note and 1) 500 note.
  
  4. Their credit card machine was NOT working while I was there. Fortunately there is an ATM one black away. Make sure you have 40,000 huf in cash for the pass sport replacement fee.
  
  5. Don't bring a backpack or phone. You can't bring them inside.
  
  6. Printout ALL the passport forms and fill them out before you go.
  
  7. Bring a copy of your old passport or your driver's license if possible.
  
  You'll probably be asked to return between 3 and 4 PM to pickup the finished passport.

  Interesting that, this stupid embassy near a communist monument. Both can shake hands. poisons for the country.

  One hour wait time OUTSIDE in December, while on the inside there is like a hundred seat, all of them empty. Got cold, was sick for days. Once you get in, you are greeted by unhelpful staff. A lovely atmosphere.

  This place has been the symbol of freedom for Hungarians for decades. Maybe security components are not decorated entirely in traditional style but let's face it: these days they are necessary. Staff is very professional, courteous, and polite.
