  Deux Mains (two hands) is a unique concept in Haiti - they make sandals from locally sourced materials. The soles are made from discarded tires; the leather, the foam, and the glue are all sourced locally. They employ Haitians and have a unique store in Port-au-Prince.
  
  In terms of social consciousness, they employ Haitians, paying their employees 200% that of the poverty line, providing great hours, and allowing for the employees to have evenings and weekends away from work. Deux Mains also gives their employees paid vacation and paid maternity leave - unique in Haiti and notable even for a company in the US.
  
  In terms of their product, Deux Mains offer a basic thong sandal and a few 'designer' options. The first is the Bel Nanm ("Beautiful Sole" in Hatian Creole), designed by Heide Lindgren. The second is a Cole Haan designed sandal called the Love-Haiti. Their leather is excellent.
  
  Other notes, their space in Haiti is under five minutes from the Port-au-Prince airport - you can tour the grounds and see the store and the working spaces, as well as meet the employees. The store is fashioned from upcycled materials - a satellite dish as the roof and two shipping crates are incorporated into the structure. Finally, they have a beautiful dog named Firestone - he's a puppy now, but soon will be their guard dog.
