  block production sector. Industrial producers produce materials that comply with
  international standards for construction, while micro and small enterprises (MEPs)
  are struggling to produce good quality blocks, due to the high investment required to purchase
  equipment and access to the technical skills necessary to produce
  Haitian construction standards.
  To better understand the systemic of this sector, a detailed analysis of the value chain has
  the various challenges to be met in order to regularize this sector and to allow a better
  quality in building materials while improving the positioning of MSEs (micro and small
  companies). Regularization and the sustainability of their activities require support from
  technical and management.
  From the production process to the purchasing process, difficulties were noted during this study.
  Indeed, there is little or no quality control within the MEPs, both
  as the process or finished product. Moreover, the workers in charge of the production often
  few technical skills and are not aware of the importance of blocks in the construction of
  houses to limit the consequences in the event of a new earthquake. Moreover, the clientele is also very little
  informed about the importance of block quality and does not make a sufficiently informed decision as to
  the purchase of these materials, opting mostly for a lower price at the expense of quality.
