Haitian Cultural Tour & Beach Break

  I went to visit paradise when I signed up for this tour. If you are sailing on Royal Caribbean and heading to the western carribean with a stop in Labadee, make sure to pick this shore excursion. It's beautiful. Nice people. Real people. Haitians are very friendly and make this an unforgettable day!

  This was our second time taking this excursion, which is now called Paradise Cove something. It's just a short boat trip from Labadee and during the trip the guide gives a brief history of Haiti. When you get to the beach you need to wade from the boat to to beach, so be prepared for that, but it is not difficult at all. You can get your free rum drink at the Bamboo Bar and pay for others if you like. You are then guided through a Haitian "village" where you get the chance to meet the craftsmen, learn a little about their trades and purchase their wares if you like. Be sure to try some of the peanut butter and casava bread. After the tour you have plenty of time to relax on the beautiful beach, swim or try kayaking. This is the only excursion we have done twice and I would certainly consider doing it again.

  This is a public beach called Paradis Beach that was also "conquered" by Royal Caribbean so they could set up this artificial "village" to pretend they are giving cruisers an authentic experience with "locals." It's a beautiful beach. It's a terrible shame that locals can't access their beaches for the sake of Royal Caribbean guests not having to see real Haitian people. For one hour between morning & afternoon tours the beach is bliss. You can access the beach by getting a taxi boat from the jetty at Labadee Beach (which is not accessible by tourists on island). They serve really overpriced drinks, so bring your own beer from the stalls at the Labadee jetty.

  Great beach, three your was a little short though. The private beach was much better than the public one for Royal Caribbean cruisers on Labadee. Come in shorts or swimwear because the description didn't tell you that you have to wade from the boat to the beach in thigh deep water.

  What a wonderful place. I bought some fresh (alive) seafood from locals waiting on the beach and got it cooked It was delicious. A local pretending to be the cleaner of the beach came to me asking for $10 for his work. I refused to give it to him, he was upset
