This is a historical place. It has different meanings to different people but it surely stand for a breath taking experience. The park itself was closed when I went but I was able to peak through and cow to go back when I return to Haiti. It is under the protection of UNESCO for its worth and the fact that it inhabits several plants that can only be found in Haiti.

Parc Le Martissant is very well worth a few hours: a spice trail, its botanic garden with art works, exhibits on the fascinating US anthropologist Katherine Dunham and her work and dance career. There is a modern library there too. A real gem is the ruins of the fabled Habitation Leclerc, temple of hedonism from the 1970s, favored by the "Beautiful People" of the Papa Doc era. This site is not open to the public, being in a dilapidated state, invaded by the lush forest. Voyages Lumiere knows this site.
