We had to place our order ahead of time so the food could cook in the clay ovens. This is a traditional Dalmatia region dish called peka, a blend of vegetables and meat drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with herbs, and then baked to perfection under a bell-like dome, or ispod čripnj. We had fish and octopus peka. If we would have known lamb was an option, we would have tried it too. Peka kind of reminds me of paella from the presentation. The food was tender and tasty. We ordered 3 pekas for 10 people and had leftover that we took with us for lunch on the next day.

Its delicious, but the portion of octopus was small. Only 5 medium/small octopus legs for 2 people (290 kn) and a looooot of potatoes. It's also a much bigger restaurant than I expected, so not so authentic anymore. The wine was quite good.

Didn't eat better food in a while.
5 stars, undoubtedly.
Stiniva beach and Roki's restaurant are the best 2 things on Vis.
This octopus on the pic was PERFECT.

An unforgettable meal in at Roki's. Having booked the day before (and chosen lamb over fish or octopus) and were picked-up from Vis town and driven to Roki's: A beautiful old farmhouse in the heart of the island. Out of season, we pretty much had the place to ourselves, but the two of us were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the best local food and wine we've had during our trip to Croatia. As an overall experience, I cannot recommend Roki's highly enough.

Excellent experience and fantastic food. You really need to book a day or two in advance to order the fish, octopus or meat 'Peka'. The staff speak english so very easy to arrange on the phone. The Peka is a slow cooked authentic croatian dish cooked in metal pots on coals for hours with rice, potatoes and vegetables. Roki's is in a fairly remote part of the island (15 mins away from Vis up on a hill) so they can pick you up in your town and drop you off after for free / a nominal charge. We were greeted by our waiter who showed us how they cooked our dish. We got a complimentary shot of local carob liqueur and were shown to our seat. The surroundings are lovely so if possible let try and be there for sunset. We had a starter for one to share between 2 of us of delicious local cured meats and cheese. It was divine. Then the main event. A kilo of Monkfish with rice, veggies etc in a lovely stock. The pekas are for 2 people to share ( they don't do single ones) and you will not go hungry. We just managed to finish ours! We also had their wine (produced on site) which was fantastic! It is pricey if you're on a budget (we paid £70 for 2 of us but had small starter, huge mains and a bottle and a half if wine between us) BUT it's a great experience and we'll worth doing. The food was great and the setting / experience / staff / everything was wonderful. When we were done they dropped us back into town. A great night out so would highly recommend.

Roki's is a great little winery tucked in the centre of Vis. I highly recommend it for dinner which they will organise for you (including transport) if you arrange it a day in advance.

They made us 'peka' which is a local dish - it's HUGE so arrive hungry or plan to share one peka between more than two people. My one comment would be to book a table from 8pm, no earlier. We went earlier on the basis we could while away some time in the village / winery but to be honest there's not too much to see (there is an old WW2 landing strip) - 15 minutes would be enough.

The service is good - they are attentive, friendly and knowledgable.

One point for those who don't like cats - there are more than a couple hanging around the tables. It didn't bother us at all - we like them - but we saw one person make a fuss of it.

Roki's is a must if you are anywhere on the island of Vis! What ever you order, the taste is absolutely divine! Roki's is the best kept secret of the island!
