Dr in Accident and Emergency excellent, however hospital itself dirty and like a building site or building tear down site.
Good personal 👌
I was admitted on a Sunday night in Ocober 2016 for emergency surgery for a compound fracture of the left ankle. An orthopedic surgeon operated soon after my arrival. I was there 1 week, then was escorted home to New York by a nurse sent from the US. While I was there, I was well taken care of, mostly by people who spoke English. My only (minor) complaint was that I did not care for some of the food. But it was plentiful.

General Hospital Dubrovnik is situated in Lapad neighbourhood near Petka hill. Located in a modern building that was built from 1980s to 2003 when all facilities were opened (the old hospital building was in Branitelja Dubrovnika street, today University of Dubrovnik), it has 323 beds with more than 700 employees (MDs, licensed nurses/medical technicians, support stuff etc). Nearby Dubrovnik Accident and Emergency Department building (A&E/ER) and Croatian Institute for Public Health-Dubrovnik. European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) allows EU residents (insured by a statutory social security scheme of the EU) to receive medical treatment in Croatia for free, if that treatment becomes necessary. EHIC covers the costs of medical treatment only with HZZO (Croatian Health Insurance Fund - CHIF) contracting health care providers such is General Hospital Dubrovnik.
