  A clocktower as usual.
  Behind it is a marina which you cannot see from town as there are walls around.
  Very near to Orlando's Column, a museum and Sponza Palace.
  As you enter the main gate this clocktower is already visible at the extreme end.

  It's in the middle of the old town. I personally don't find it that special, especially having seen so many of them; every major Croatia town has one.

  Probably one of the tallest structure on the main level. Great tower that serves many functions. Located in the busiest section of the city.

  The elegant 31-metres high City Bell Tower or Clocktower is located on the far eastern side of Stradun near the Sponza Palace, Luža (the main guard building), the Church of St. Blaise and the Orlando's Column. It was constructed in 1444, while in 1506 Ivan Rabljanin, the most famous Croatian caster of cannons and bells, made the new bell. Two wooden figures hitting the bell were also replaced with the bronze ones, and these are the famed Dubrovnik "Zelenci" (meaning the "Greens" or "the Dubrovnik Green Men" after the bronze colour). Over the years the original figures had suffered a much damage so replicas were installed (in 1929); the originals went through intensive restoration (2004-2009) and today they can be seen in the Rector's Palace (before the restoration they were in the Sponza Palace Atrium). The stability of the bell tower was impacted in the great earthquake of 1667, over time it began to lean, so it was in danger of caving in. In 1929, it was rebuilt according to the original model.

  Beautiful tower which serves many purpeses at once. you can tell the Time, and the date, the status of the moon, and also can be used as a beacon if you get lost somehow or want to meet up.
