We loved diving with Sun Divers when we were in Roatan. Our guide, Brian, was awesome! I loved that he let us take the lead since our group was advanced. Made for a much more satisfying dive experience. While we were diving, Chip, certified our son. He was a phenomenal instructor! Very happy with this operation.

I gave it 4 instead of 5 because we booked a private charter & they cancelled on us without making room on another boat for the same time. That was disappointing & left us in a bad spot. To the credit of the dive shop, I'm fairly certain that it had something to do with the cruise boats but it still put us in a tight spot. They were gentle in letting is down, however, so we did have time to find another dive shop so that was good. I do highly recommend Sun Divers, just not for private charters 😁

Great dive shop. Small groups. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. As of this trip will have 41 dives with them. They are hands down some of the best. I highly recommend them.

A warm and welcoming atmosphere with the professionalism you would expect. The multilingual staff treat their guests with the utmost regard. There equipment is well maintained. Their advise is top notch. They take you to the most amazing dive sites on both the North and South sides of the island. If you want to extend your experience and learning, just ask, I'm sure they can find the right course for you. The boat captains are highly experienced and safety is a priority. Highly recommended Dive shop.

Sun Divers is hands down the best dive experience we have had anywhere!! Communication in setting up dives before you arrive is professional and prompt. Dive shop is organized and very thorough on check in. We had 4 experienced divers, 1 refresher and a Discovery Scuba participant and every dive was tailored for all to enjoy. We had the pleasure of going out with Mal, one of the owners. I cannot recommend him enough. He took the time to give us a great explanation of what to expect in the water before getting in. Really upped the confidence of the entire group. The equipment is top-notch also. Fantastic location next to Sundowners in Half Moon Bay. Can't imagine anything else you could ask for in service, quality and safety than what our experience was with Sun Divers!

Why did we pick Sun Divers Dive Shop from the multitude of other dive shops?

Joel and I where looking forward to a one week dive trip in Roatan where we've heard that the diving is amazing. Although with so many dive shops available which one do we pick from? We asked a local business owner of the Sea Breeze Inn, Kevin Braun who has been living in Roatan for (give or take) 20 years, which dive shop would he recommend. He listed a few of them in the West End including Sun Divers. We checked out all three and wouldn't you know it . . . Sun Divers gave us the best impression of what to expect. They were honest about assessing our ability but not rigid (like another company).

We first conversed with Brian, a dive master at the shop who asked all the usual questions and offered the expected replies to our questions but somehow made us feel very comfortable and open to his suggestions. Some comments he made were very honest about what he expected but provided reasons why they mattered to him and over all helped us build a base of trust/integrity with him and the Shop. When he need more answers regarding the administration end of what we required, Brian lifted his head and said, "This is the owner Martin and he could answer that better then me."

Martin - whom we noticed in the back ground the whole time we where talking to Brian . . . was sweeping, mopping, moving equipment back and forth, prepping for the day and to my surprise attentively listening in on our conversation. He picked up on the thread of discussion with a cool, collective way about him and responded exactly to the question not missing a beat :).

I was pretty impressed.

We originally wanted to do only dives but where thinking of getting our Advanced Open Water Certification however not sure if we wanted to commit because we where there for only one week. Martin provided all the pros and cons only after listening to us and finding out what we really wanted to do with our diving moving forward beyond our Roatan vacation. The other dive shops didn't even care to ask those questions.

Because we were indecisive and had lots of questions we spent about 30 mins taking to Brian and Martin. We then thanked them both and said we need to think it over for it was a good chunk of money for us Canadians (bad exchange rate). We expected them to be a little frustrated but we just needed to discuss our finance situation with each other and again to my surprise they were warm, encouraging in response to us leaving without committing to their dive shop. By then we knew they where more interested in us being happy with our choices then anything else.

We did talk to one other dive shop after Sun Divers and I won't mention names but the manager had the personality of a tin can :P which made our decision even more easy.

Brian ended up being our dive master/instructor for the week and man is he awesome. Joel and I found him to be patient, very patient, respectful, informative, experienced and fun to learn from. He was enthusiastic about his approach in briefing us before and after each dive. What we can expect/work on and then how we can improve and look forward to future dives.

We did a total of seven dives with Sun Divers which included our Advance Open Water certification. On the day after we got back from Roatan I received an email from PADI informing me that I now have a temporary Advanced Open Water Certificate and the official card can be expected shortly. :D

Thank you Sun Divers for making our trip so great and yes I'd recommend Sun Divers to my friends.

As an experienced diver there are certain factors I value in a dive shop. Sun divers gave me what I was looking for. They customize for their clients, based on experience and preferences. Each day SD made sure we went to sites we hadn't been to before. We had the pleasure of diving with Martin, Brian and Mal and they all were all amazing. They also grouped their clients with similar skill sets to maximize the experience. I have my own equipment which they stored and carried on and off the boat, cleaning it daily with as much care as I would.
We observed Sun divers catering to all levels. They value safety and I would recommend them to all.

Sun divers has an awesome team of instructors and boat captains: friendly, knowledgeable and safety oriented. My girlfriend did her advanced open water certification, and I did my open water and advanced open water here. The team managed to accommodate our ever changing plans. The rental gear was new and in great condition. The location was ideal (next to the beach and a bar). The highlight was surely the spectacular night dive.

I was very scared of my first dive. The fact that it was not in a pool but in actual open water, made me feel very uncomfortable. On top of this, I saw a barracuda before I even knew how to control my breathing. The fish I fear the most.

My instructor Serena had already started out by building up trust and confidence, which meant I actually felt very safe in the water with her. Her very professional but relaxed attitude made me feel very comfortable. She always had an eye on me while diving, and she had a lot of great personal stories about the underwater world. I would have never imagined I would end up diving in a strong current, with high waves and fifteen sharks around me, in a depth of twenty two meters, after only one week of diving.

All this was made possible by my instructor and the rest of the staff. A special thanks to Mauricio for being a hero while shark diving, and for the very nice underwater photos. The two owners Mal and Martin were very patient with me and all of my silly questions.

I found a great friend in Serena and the rest of the staff, which made me feel like a part of the family. I am longing for a one-way ticket back to this pearl of a dive shop for more diving!

Fantastic scuba shop. All told I did 9 dives with Sun Divers and every single one was memorable and fantastic. Brian was our guide most of the time and did a great deal to make sure the dives we went on were interesting to our group. He was also incredibly knowledgeable about the sea life and helped us out with tips on better buoyancy/swim techniques as we dove. Martin (pronounced: Mar-teen) was also very good at ensuring everything was running smoothly and helped us out when we had a few issues our second day. The whole group here were fantastic people to dive with and were very helpful.
