Lovely family run guest house. Joanne and her family are so very welcoming and friendly. Every time she saw me relaxing out the back, she fed me whatever she’d cooked for her family. Totally unexpected but very appreciated!
We spent a week in Utila and loved staying here, jumping in the water to cool off, watching fish and the amazing sunsets from the private dock (we saw lots of little fish, sea urchins, sea cucumbers, a crab, trumpet fish and a big green moray eel near the rocks! Try shining a torch into the water at night), chilling on the hammock, snorkelling at the little shipwreck about 20m west of the dock (lots of different fish there).
The rooms are rustic but have everything you need, air conditioning, hot water, fan, fridge, wifi, private bathroom. Great location, quiet and secure, affordable and comfortable. You can put a towel through the holes in the lattice bathroom door for more privacy.
Each room has a double and single bed so can fit three people, which could work out cheaper than some of the hostel/dive shop dorm accommodation which don’t include air conditioning or private bathrooms.
The Rock Bottom Cafeteria across the road is better than it looks, I ate the fried chicken here twice! They also do baleadas.response / report this review -
