Don't visit these shysters. We read the other reviews about some diners being overcharged but didn't really think that would happen. But it totally did.
First the waiter comes out and just tells us what we owe. Naturally we asked to see the bill. He brings it out, and half of the prices had been scratched out and rewritten to be more expensive than what was on the menu! 5 lempiras extra here, 5 lempiras extra there. Our two cocktails were more expensive than on the menu, and the waiter argued that there was an extra 15% charge on all liquors (even though one of the cocktails was marked up almost 30%, from 45 to 57 lempiras). There is no mention of this on the menu, and no other bar has done this. We just paid and left without tipping.
Maybe this only happens with tourists, but it seems like they have a little game. There are plenty of nice pupuserias in town whose pupusas are just as good and they don't cheat you. Go to those.response / report this review -

The food is good. I had churrasco and the meat was very tender. Service is nice but barely speak English. Prices are quite reasonable. Location is near the central square, next to hotel Mary. Ambiance is very dark with dark wood furniture and small light. Brighter during the day with the daylight in the courtyard.

Food and service was great!
Waiting for a table is worth it. Had to wait for about 15 min for sitting arrangements (party of 7)
Ordered a BBQ for 6, enough to satisfy 8.

The plate is not bad but at final bill is changed overcharge. First server told me only price and she didn't wanna show me the list and I picked up from her and find it. So when you go here, have to check your account.

With a beautiful dining area, great service, and the best and most authentic pupusas you'll find outside of El Salvador, make sure you make this one of your first stops in Copan so that you have time to come back again and again. You'll be surprised at the quality and quantity of food you'll receive for the low price you'll pay.
