Challenging but worth the hike. Legs were shaking on the way down due to the intensity of the mountain climb.

The viewpoint is marvelous and the hike is exhilarating. We took the ferry and walked along South Lantau Road to the starting point of the Lantau Trail. There are signs for the various routes, so it won't be hard to miss. We took our time with the hike and stopped to take photos here and there (the views are amazing), and it took us about 3 hours to reach the peak. FYI, It can definitely be done in less time than that. There weren't many people on the trail when we were there. The beginning is a steep climb through the shaded forest. The last 3/4 of the hike is where the trail leaves the forest and opens up to the top, where you are welcomed by a surreal scene of both water and land. We tried to make it to the Tian Tian Buddha, but dusk was approaching fast. Till next time! This would be a great area to train and run as well. #LetsGuide

The hike is quite nice. A lot of stairs to go to the peak, but it the view is quite beautiful. Even though it's cooler in December, the cooler weather brings all the smog from mainland China over.

A very good location for hiking. I believe it is the 3rd highest peak in HK. During Autumn, the hills are covered by seas of Miscanthus, it is a beautiful scene and worth the trek.
Quite a lot of people come here for the Miscanthus sea and it can be quite crowded on weekends!response / report this review -

Best to take bus to Pak Kung Au and start the trail from there. You need to tell your bus driver in advance to stop there otherwise they'll overshoot and won't be able to pull over til the next stop (we had to hike an extra 2km up the road, lesson learned). The hike is moderately high difficulty, at some points if feels like you're going vertical for really long stretches. You'll reach a point where there isn't much signage and there are multiple ways to reach the peak depending on if it's dry or muddy. The view is well worth it. We didn't catch the sunset at the peak unfortunately, since we didn't have head torches to brave a downhill hike in the dark on the way back. Going up took about 2 hrs while going down was much faster.
