Academically worse than the American public schools I have attended. The teachers do not care about their students and turn a blind eye to bullying. The elementary schools are okay, however do NOT send your child to the middle school if you have another option.

I attended grades 4-6 at HKIS in the mid 90s. One if the most formative and remarkable experiences of my life. Nothing but great memories of such a wonderful school.

In the early 1960s, a group of American businessmen whose common faith brought them together foresaw the day when an American-style school would be needed in Hong Kong. Together with the support of the government and the Lutheran Church, those pioneers opened the doors of a new school in September 1966.

The American-style curriculum at HKIS is challenging and invigorating with both international and multicultural elements. Opportunities abound to extend learning outside of the classroom through student involvement in clubs, athletics, and other after school activities. The result is that HKIS graduates are found at many of the world’s finest universities.

The beginnings were humble: 170 students taught by 7 teachers in some apartments in Chung Hom Kok. But the idea caught fire and now HKIS educates more than 2,600 students on two campuses served by nearly 500 faculty and staff. Driven by our Mission and Student Learning Results, HKIS is now one of the world’s premier schools.
Students come from over 40 nations and because of this, our students understand, respect, and appreciate diverse cultures.

The vision is to develop creative, collaborative, resilient, and caring young people who are passionate about meeting the needs of the larger global community.

While our students learn about the Christian faith, they also see, hear, and experience different religions.

Average cost for lunch at school is around $50 for pretty much raw meat and bland food. Complete rip-off.

The library is a salty place, where they demand money "fine" for overdue books.

The school food already takes away so much of my money.
Why take more?
