We are delighted to let you know that 2017 is the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Social Sciences at HKU. From relatively small beginnings we have evolved to include six academic departments (Geography [moved from Arts], Politics and Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work and Social Administration, Sociology, and the Centre for Journalism and Media Studies [formally added this year]). We have about 1,500 undergraduates enrolled in our programmes at any one time, 250 PhD and Master’s students, and 2,500 professional Master’s students.
