Knowledgeable staffassuming you have the patience for queues. Get there 29 minutes before opening time to ensure you are one of the first to be serviced.

Long queues, terrible customer service, ridiculous policies (Union Pay instead of visa or MasterCard on ATM card, so the only way to get a service which is actually any use in most of the world is to apply for a credit card, they don't warm you you need to activate your cards to use abroad, the list goes on).

This is supposed to be a branch for "Premier" clients and you have to wait half an hour just to withdraw some USD?

Staff in the branch and on the HSBC helplines (don't get me started on them ) don't speak good enough English either.

Been putting up with this nonsense for more than a year. I opened another account at Citi after finally losing my patience with HSBC, and would recommend you do the same - way better in every way.
