I am currently on a 9-day vacation in Guyana and have spent the past two days trying to obtain a Guyanese Birth Certificate for my neighbor's son, who was born in Venezuela. Unfortunately, the customer service and professionalism of the staff at the Guyana Post Office (GPO) have been deeply disappointing. The employees I interacted with were rude and unprofessional, raising serious questions about their commitment to public service.

I encountered four different employees, each providing conflicting information about who was responsible for issuing the correct form. The entire process is confusing and lacks proper organization. As a nation known for our humility, it is concerning to see such behavior from public servants. It is unclear why these individuals continue to hold their positions despite their conduct.

The Registrar General ( Cummings)at GPO is the most unprofessional , rude and incompetent individual I have ever had the misfortune to cross paths with.
Who is his boss? I need to be able to contact someone that he reports to.

I ask because if he is allowed to shout at and be as disrespectful to customers as he has been to me TWICE, you cannot expect better from his staff.
The fish STINKS from the head, it needs to be cut off.

If you are there to send off or receive a parcel you will spend a great deal of time here - cater for about 2-3 hours.

For simple mails - they are very good and normally won't take up much time.

The workers are not known for being super fast but with patience you will get through.

I am deeply disappointed with the customer service at the Guyana Post Office. A relative recently visited me and after seeing that there were no hot sauce and other Guyanese delicacies on the island where I live, she decided to mail me some of these items including black cake. She did not have a line ahead of her but yet she had to wait for hours while being degraded by the staff at the Post Office. She was told that the liquid had to be half full in containers and the cake had to be cut in tiny squares. On the following day she returned following the Postal Service instructions. The wait was longer and this time she was accused of illegal activity that she became discombobulated and started to doubt herself when she did nothing wrong. I'm not sure where the Postal Service is heading but the Private enterprises such Laparkan, Williams Shipping et al. will continue to strive with your help. Improve your customer service beause not everyone who tries to mail a package is a criminal. Extremely disappointed.

This once well organized and service oriented post office has lost its glory due to several vending and private office's.

Guyanese are thieves. The black people at the post office and GRA will write you a fruad receipt for tens of thousands of dollars. The Mongol afrocan guyanese will them put the money in they pocket and never provided the money to they employ authority. We pay 80% Customs at GRA in August 2,2017. our package cost $261.00usd with shipping and handling. The NASTY GUYANESE at CUSTOMS GRA charge us $200.00 usd cash with hand written receipt stamp by Guyana Post Office seal.

TRUST NO GUYANESE. BEWARE OF GUYANESE IN YOU COMMUNITY. GUYANESE ARE CRIMINALS.
