The chimney at the Caricom Rice Mill was one of several chimney’s built by the ‘British landlords’. While Hampton Court Chimney was blast down in 1934, Makings on Aurora Chimney reveral its origin in 1908. Anna Regina sugar factory was abandoned in the 1920’s as Rice Industry emerge, by 1950 the Colonials Development company, converted the factory to a rice mill, then was took over by GRB in 1964 and later sold to Caricom Rice Mills Company, a St. Lucian company in 1991.

Caricom Rice mill is a major spoke in the economy wheel of Region 2, Essequibo Pomeroon, Guyana.
