Luis was a fantastic tour guide. His fluency in English as well as Spanish and his native Mayan dialect came in very handy on our tour. His enthusiasm was contagious, and he obviously loves giving tours. He gave us a very personalized tour of his hometown of San Juan la Laguna as well as several other villages on the lake, including getting to see a demonstration at a women's textile cooperative (with beautiful, colorful textiles for sale), visiting a fabulous local art gallery, and shopping at better quality shops away from the more touristy areas We also did a hike in the hills above the lake and saw gorgeous views of the lake, volcanoes, and lakeside villages. I highly recommend booking one or more tours with Luis of Adventure Atitlan Tours if you are visiting the area.
