Very good! If I go again and try other things, it may turn into 5 stars. The "Te Frio" which I ordered con tomillo (with thyme) was unexpectedly sweet; menu didn't mention sugar. I don't care for sweetened tea and like to pace my sugar intake.
The Ginger Guava Chicken was wonderful. Incredibly moist and flavorful chicken even without the sauce. Sauce was fairly good, maybe too sweet (guava is of course sweet, I just didn't expect the overall effect to be quite so sweet in a savory dish). Served with green beans and roast potatoes.
I saved room for the Pecado Split! Sauteed banana with a scoop of coffee rum walnut ice cream and another of tobacco rum fig ice cream, all doused with a rummy caramel sauce. The dish arrived with the tobacco ice cream almost completely melted. The flavor was delicious, but I wish the ice cream and hot bananas had been brought together at the last possible moment just before I got it. Also, the plating of this dish is a bit unfortunate. It looked gloppy and sad, which is too bad since it did taste so good.
Much of interest on the menu; I hope to go again while I'm in Antigua!
It's my place of choice for Sunday night dining. Great food, atmosphere and jazz music. I have known the Owners for about 8 years and they are great people. I have brought many friends to dine over the years. Visit and enjoy.
I'd been looking where to get an apple pie with ice cream while in Antigua and nowhere could I find it. Until I visited Sobremesa. Well this wasn't on menu here either but they had something similar called "trebuchè". I cannot recall having more delicious dessert in my life!
Excellent ambience, service, and food selection and quality. We accidentally discovered the main restaurant when looking for the fabled exotic ice cream. The owner clearly invests tremendous care, creativity, and passion into every aspect of this place. I also highly recommend checking out the original art and literature for sale. Each piece has a compelling backstory. Very lucky to find this gourmet oasis!
Cozy environment, friendly staff, and outgoing owner. However, our pizza was disappointing after we had heard such good things from others. The crust tasted like a stale cracker. I can’t speak for other menu items, but I’d recommend elsewhere for pizza.
Hands down one of the most amazing places I have ever been. It is ptobably the best meal I have ever had. Alex, the owner is incredible. An artist, author and restaurateur, what a phenomenal place. Food was incredible. Very highly recommend to anyone in Antigua or anywhere close in Guatemala. Well worth the trip. So very happy that I had the opportunity to try this place out.
I’ve been living in Antigua for years and have always heard that I️ NEED to go to Sobremesa. My husband has gone to dinners with coworkers and raved about the steak he got multiple times. I️ have been to the exotic ice cream location and it was well worth it.
This time a friend and I️ were out late looking for a good cheese plate, we were met by a delicious antipasto that they substituted mushrooms and olives for an extra slice of cheese. The servers automatically spoke English to us and were very accommodating, which was great for my friend who was just visiting for a few weeks.
Our entrees were exactly what we were looking for and masterfully crafted. The entrees each came with an accompanying starter which was a nice surprise. We even ordered a pizza to go for my husband who said it was one of the best he’s ever had, even reheated the next day.
The owner came over to check if everything was okay, he was a true conversationalist and we were charmed by him. When he heard that my birthday was the following day he treated us to an amazing piece of carrot cake, thank you John! I️ can’t wait to come back with my husband.
One thing I️ thought was interesting is that the menu asks to keep children to your table. This is not the type of place I️ would think to bring my son, but I thought it a clever way to deter people from bringing their children and to set a relaxed atmosphere expectation.
Very strange place and so many better Guatemalan restaurants to choose from in Antigua
Cozy restaurant offering very good steak. We had 2 different steak dishes and were both delicious.
Popped in for dessert and a glass of wine. Really delicious and inventive. Nice to meet the owner Alexander - very friendly and an interesting and colourful character!
The best unusual ice cream you'll ever have! Don't miss it!
My chiltepe pepper cream sauce on linguini con camarones was prepared perfectly with el dente pasta and large, firm shrimp. My wife's lomito (beef) was amazingly tender. I'm going to try and replicate their delicious sangria. The only gripe was their large, upholstered chairs weren't as comfortable as they looked and we switched to regular chairs.
This restaurant is wonderful! The food is amazing, and the chef/painter/exotic ice cream inventor/writer is personable and entertaining! I'm so glad to have had the chance to eat here.
